5-0 out of 5 stars Smooth, easy to play, easy on the lips
I am a new harmonica player trying to substitute shopping and technical research for practice and talent.I went out and bought nearly every diatonic harmonica under 40 bucks. Most fell by the wayside.I still use the Special 20 every day for a couple of reasons. The one I have is easy to play. And only the plastic cone touches your lips, not the brass plate that sticks out on lots of Hohners.(That's the only reason the Golden Melody comes in second for me.)Overall, it just feels really nice in your hand, smoother even than the non-stick Pro models.

Unless you are shopping addicted, as I am, this is the only harmonica you are going to need for a long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love This Harmonica
I have been playing harmonica for more than two years now. This was my first harmonica ever; the one I learned on.The notes are clear, it lends its self to bending, and just sounds good.Perfect for learning on.Great for continuous play.I recomend this harmonica to anyone who askes me about brands or keys; the Hohner Special 20 "C". ... 3-0 out of 5 stars I fell for the cheap price
What? This harmonica is plastic! It's not that great. I was brought into buying it by the cheap price (I love to get a good deal) but it's just what the price says, a cheap harmonica. Not worth it.
I've always wanted a better harmonica than my current beginner 20-hole, so I wanted to change to a 10-hole. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this, I should have known better. But I've just put this one aside and continued practicing on my old one.
Three stars were given just because it's for 2 bucks. It does what it's supposed to do, which is make noise, But if you want something with a good tone and really good feel(this harmonica is way short, barely bigger than your index finger) than I suggest going for a more expensive harmonica. It really is worth it in order to get a good sound.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enhances my Band
I used to love watching old concerts of Neil Young going from Guitar to Harmonica. This Harmonica is easy to play and adds so much to our songs. I also hae the Epiphone and singing lesson Cds, "Voice Lessons To Go" by Vaccarino. All of these really enrich me as a performing musician. A little money put out can go a long way. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A truly wonderful 'Blues Harmonica,' really!
First of all it's a Hohner.
I could stop my review right here. But I can tell you still more:

This harmonica has a perfect size.
His quality feels all over its construction. It's strong, yet friendly. Its sounds emerge purely and crystaline. But, at the same time it has that wonderful "blues" feeling that makes it such an special instrument.

I like the tonality, the style of the air flow, and the wooden structure inside it.

If you have never played an harmonica before, this is the one for you.

If you are a master at it, you already know this is the best you can get.

Go, get it, and enjoy for years to come!

4-0 out of 5 stars Cheap....
It's about as good as you'd expect for the price you're paying. The tone is a little thin, but it seems sturdy enough, and will work for my purposes - tapping the beat for people learning medieval dance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than the kids stuff!
It is really my fault for getting the size wrong (as I am still metric), but I am very happy with it. I am not too sure it is a very high quality, but for this price and for being a real instrument, it is a great deal!

5-0 out of 5 stars Folksy and good.
This is folksy instrument.Very easy to play.I mean you just take it from package put your fingers on holes as shown on finger chart and play.Sure this kind of instrument doesn't really have all #,b notes-but it seems it never was created for this purpose either. If you want to play Irish tunes-this is your instrument. The thing is, it is not that complicated in comparison to say regular recorder, where in order to play one note sometimes several fingers should be used. Here as you open one hole after another, you have one note after another. In order to play on second octave use more breath pressure with the same fingering position you use in playing first octave.I would say playing isn't easy-it's elementary.I find myself more and more enjoying this instruments at expense of my Yamaha alto recorder.Easy, so easy.Of course, the sound of the note isn't as pure as it is on recorder, in a way it's kind of windy, so after training a little you will be able to produce this beautiful Irish-Scottish intonation, which in my opinion, not quite possible using regular recorder.

5-0 out of 5 stars Whistle while you work (don't actually do that).
This is my first penny whistle and I'm very satisfied with it. It has one of the shortest learning curves and a wonderful sound. It's an excellent instrument despite the misleading plastic mouthpiece. However, after a while the finish starts to come off; which doesn't affect the overall sound but does add a nice little "folksy" look.

P.S. Moisture will build up in the mouthpiece, be sure to clean it out every once and a while.

5-0 out of 5 stars An all-around good whistle
A Walton's Irish D whistle was my first after a beat-up Sweetone I got my kid. The Walton has a good full sound and just a touch of chiff. It is hard to get into the upper range when you're starting out but once you get there the notes are fairly solid and reliable.

However, I found the C to be an even better instrument, as it isn't even hard to get into the upper range. ... Read more

    Product Description

Also known as the Jews' Harp, the Jaws Harp is a hand-sized instrument placed in front of the mouth. Its name is misleading, as the Jews' Harp is neither a harp nor associated with Jewish tradition. It has a long history, and has remained popular because it is portable and relatively easy to play.

The Jaws Harp is usually made of forged metal (usually iron, sometimes silver), with a metal reed within a thin metal frame. The closed end of the frame is a single key or tongue which you pluck with your finger to create various buzzing tones by holding the closed end in your mouth and changing the size and shape of your mouth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jewstastic!
Ever since I was a child I have always dreamed of owning one of the fantastic musical instruments, imagine my surprice and delight when I stumbled upon this instument of the angels here on Amazon, as soon as I set eyes on it I knew that I had to have it.
I'm not Jewish and I think that harps are okay but not brilliant but this little beauty is bazoo and beezer.
During the weekends I like to get out my shiny Jews Harp and play it for family, friends and other visitors, they love it, they can't get enough of its heavenly sound and jaunty twangs. My favourite song to play on it is "The Camp Town Races" my second favourite is "The Skye Boat Song" and my third favourite which I like to play is Elvis 'The King' Presley's "In the Ghetto".
This Christmas I'm going to buy one for each family member and we can have a jam session.
At the price of $6 you can't go wrong with this little number! it's the business. With it's shiny gleam and cheerful pings and twangs the Jews Harp will keep you and your family entertained for hours!
I award the Jews Harp five stars and a WG Sinclair BIG double thumbs up! ... Read more

Lollipop drums are easy-to-play "frame" drums that are based on a simple drum design that has been around since mankind's earliest days. The bright, attractive, and durable drumhead design captures everyones interest and delivers loads of fun. One of the most fun things about playing these drums is there really aren't any rules about what can and can't be played on them.

Each Lollipop drum comes with its own mallet and is available in three sizes and sounds: small/high, medium/mid, large/low.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST DRUM EVER!
Lollipop drums are the coolest things EVER and deserve at least a 25/5 rating. They are colorful and attractive, and are great for those boring rainey days when you want to drive your parents nuts.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Daughter Loves this Drum
What could be better for a thirteen-month old than a brightly-colored drum you hit with a brightly-colored mallet? From my daughter's point of view, just about nothing.

She really loves everything about this drum. The handles of both the drum itself and the mallet have a soft rubber tip on them, making this toy safer and fun to chew on while recuperating from heavy-duty jam sessions.

The mallet head resembles a cat toy, which is to say it's very light, so any particularly exuberant swings that stray off course won't hurt a hand or head.

Really, this drum is two toys in one: my daughter uses the mallet sans drum to create rhythms on everything from the dishwasher to the (poor, beleaguered) cat. To see her running wildly with the mallet toward a mundane object (a wall, for example) to see what kind of noise she can get out of it is to know that this drum represents money well spent.

And the babysitter has fun with it as well.

The drum is recommended for ages 3 and up but that seems conservative to me. Depending on the strength of your child, you might opt for one of the smaller models. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun to Play
I can play a number of tunes on the harmonica and that is the extent of my musical ability. That skill was learned on numerous backpacking trips over the years.I ordered up the D40 Concertina and Mel Bay's book.I received the concertina a couple weeks before the book.I managed to work out the details of Red River Valley in the first couple hours I had it.Couldn't play well at that time (still can't) but had the notes figured out.Once I got the book, it was a little easier to learn a new song.

This thing is just fun to sit down with for an hour or so in the evening and play the few songs I know and maybe work on a new one.

I highly reccommend this instrument for anybody that has an interest in this type of thing.

    I am 52 years old.

The traditional rainsticks originated in northern Chile where they are used in ceremonies to bring rain. Made from the skeleton of the capado cactus: when the cactus dies it is dried, hollowed out, and filled with small seeds or pebbles. Small nails are driven through the hull of the cactus in a spiral formation, and when the rainstick is inverted the fill striking the nails creates the sound of water falling. As you use your rainstick the seeds will polish and develop an even finer sound. These rainsticks will not wear out, they only wear in.Due to the natural materials used, this instrument is somewhat fragile in nature and will need to be handled with care. ... Read more
