Free carrying case. Four fine tuners. Featherweight case with strap and carrying handle. Pear wood fingerboard. Rosin. Accessory colors/style may vary. Here are some hints to help keep your violin in tune:1. Although the violins come with a bridge, it is not installed. Installing a bridge should not be too difficult, but if you have a problem, please email us. The bridge has to be installed for the violin to play correctly.2. Strings do tend to slip and lose their tune on a new violin because they need to stretch. If this happens, just give it time. This does NOT mean that the violin is defective. The strings just need time to settle in.3. If the violin pegs keep slipping, try to push the peg in while turning it. If they still dont stay in, peg drops are available at most music stores. They are relatively inexpensive and should help the pegs stay in.4. If a strand of hair breaks on the bow, take a pair of nail clippers and cut it from the frog (bottom of the bow) or the top of the bow. A few hairs are bound to fall out with play. Remember to rub a little rosin (included) on the bow before playing. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Beginner's Violin, GREAT Service from this store
I bought this violin for my nephew as a beginner's violin and was quite pleased with the value for the price, and it was an affordable way for him to have his own instrument and not have to rent or use a second-hand one. My sister did not realize that it takes a while to "break in" a new violin, meaning strings sometimes break, you have to be careful tuning, etc. and when she thought the violin was "no good" I thought it was a case of having to break it in but also contacted the store to see what the return policy would be.They were so GREAT that myself as a musician would buy from them for me personally again, I have played many string instruments for over 30 years and was quite impressed with the response (return no problem). Overall the service was superb they shipped super fast, kept me informed via email and followed up on the initial "problem report" which turned out just fine as the violin "broke in" and is turning out quite nicely for my nephew. I have not encountered this kind of caring service from the big Sam Ash and other music stores I usually give my business to in New York, and the care and concern from the vendor made a big impression on me.I recommend buying an electric tuner and additional strings during the break-in period, being gentle with the instrument, and asking any questions to the vendor, they are knowledgeable and very helpful and the kind of place that musicians beginner to advanced should shop at.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Beginner's Instrument!
I purchased this violin about a month ago.As a beginning violin student, the previous violin I was playing on was a veritable piece of cardboard with four strings.I wasn't advanced enough for a very fancy violin, and I was tired of renting, so I went online to find a decent violin on a budget.I came across many violins on Amazon, but this one was within my price range and it looked good and came with accessories, like a case, strap, and rosin.I received it about 5 days after I ordered it.The violin looked really good. But it did not come with a bridge attached.I had to put the bridge on myself, which was not all that hard to do.I thought that I would ask my violin teacher to do it, but I managed to do it myself.I started to tune the violin and it seemed okay at first, but the next day when I went to play, the strings were all out of tune again.I had to retune it all over again.I started to get annoyed after doing this a few days in a row.I thought that I had ended up paying for a violin that didn't work. But when I took it to my violin teacher, she said that it was natural for a violin to not hold its tune at first. She said that the strings needed time to settle in.She gave me some peg drops to keep the pegs from slipping.I rubbed a little on the pegs and it seemed to work. She also told me to be careful when I tuned the violin because if I tightened the strings too tight, they could break. After I put the peg drops, I didn't need to tune the violin as often. And now the pegs do not slip at all and the strings just need minor day to day tuning. As for the sound, I can't complain because it is after all an instrument.Unfortunately, the violin does not play itself!Whatever sound I create on the violin is exactly what the violin produces. So if it notes coming out of the violin don't sound good...well let's just say that this is why I'm taking lessons!
This instrument does not have the quality of a $4,000 violin, but obviously I shouldn't expect that since I got this violin for a great low price. You get what you pay for, and for the price I paid for it, I think this violin is GREAT!!I think it is the perfect beginner's instrument and the quality of the violin is very good, as is the quality of the bow and the case.Even my teacher thinks it's great.I am VERY HAPPY with the purchase and would definitely buy from this seller again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the beginner
I was hesitant to buy this violin at first. But when I received it I was pleasantly surprised. It was everything that I wanted as a beginner. At first the violin needed a little tuning. With the help of my music teacher I was able to tune it. But once I did that it worked like a stellar. I recommend this item to beginners who are currently renting violins. Great Value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great basic violin - Amazing value for the price
I bought this violin a few weeks ago and it is a super deal at the price. The finish is good, came with all the necessary accessories but more importantly, the notes are perfect. I am not sure if this violin will work if you perform in an orchestra but if you are an amateur musician like I am and just want to make some good melodius music, this is perfect.
I love it. It also fits within my gifting budget.

1-0 out of 5 stars the worst ever!
Purchased a violin via Amazon from Austin Bazaar, what a rip off!
Arrived with the bow broken, bridge is warped, tail piece is cheap plastic instead of wood, and it would not carry a true note if you gave it a bucket!
Looking forward to my cc statement! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I love the color!
I am so asking my parents to buy this violin for me!! Since I play in the orchestra (...), I want one of my own violins since the rentals are $150 for the whole year. I love pink, so this violin is like, so perfect for me! But, I can't give it five stars because it is not really a suitable color for playing in a concert. So, my teacher would probably be mad that I got the color. Oh well, it is still a really nice color. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Worked well for me!
When I got the violin the strings were out of tune, so I went to a music store and had them put on new strings which they tuned for me right then and there. Be sure to use plenty of rosin on the bow hairs because they're new.

I also got the ABCs of Violin book #1 and its CD. These materials plus the violin worked well for me.

Great way to begin playing the violin! My lifelong dream....

1-0 out of 5 stars This Violin Makes My Stomach Hurt
This violin sounds so horrible! There's a reason why they call this a student violin. That's because even the greatest violinist would sound like a student with this. No matter how good you are, you will sound terrible. This violin produces a horribly flat sound. It is tough to tell whether you are in tune or not (Because it always sounds bad). While it is cheap, it is definitely very bad for a student. It will discourage them (Sounds horrible), teaches bad tune (Difficult to compare to other's tune), and requires frequent tuning.

It may be more expensive, but please just rent a decent violin. You will save a lot of trouble. Also, many stores offer a discount when you rent from them. That will come in handy if you become a serious player and require a great violin.

Save yourself some trouble, time, and money by renting a decent violin.

5-0 out of 5 stars retort to teacher
I am also a violin teacher and recomment these instruments to my begginning students as it is cheaper than renting and with a little care they go a long way. 3 of my students performed in the NYSSMA competition with these instruments all recieving the highest mark and praise fro the tone of their instruemnt.

5-0 out of 5 stars good instrument, great deal
This is a wonderful instrument for beginners. It might be necessary, however, to replace the chin rest - which is pretty cheap to do - for a more comfortable hold (mine was cut too high making it difficult to hold wit hmy chin). Also, as has been stated, it also migh be advantageous to replace the strings, bridge, and buy new rosin. The bow is okay, but if you have problems with it there is no problem replacing it with a glasser fiber glass student bow.Fiber glass bows are okay for student learners and they're cheap (a wooden bow is not essential). One also might want to invest in an electronic tuner with a pickup, as this is the least frusterating way to tune the instrument. With these things mind, this is a good instrument for the price - and the sound is equal to that of an expensive violin as far as I can tell.Don't let the fact that it's cheap deter you.If you can't afford a $500 or $1,000 violin, this is a good place to start. This violin is indeed a quality instrument.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Student Violin
Based on the other reviews, I thought that this violin might be below average.I'd always been told a violin has to be quite expensive to be a decent instrument, and because of such I was always daunted at the prospect of getting a new one to learn with.I was very happy with this violin, however.I am just a student of music, but I thought this violin has a very pleasing sound, matching that of the violins of more experienced players I've listened to.It's a beautiful piece, and comes with nice beginning accessories.Especially for the price (lowest I found for any decent violin from a reputable company), this violin is a great deal for any beginner.Of course, if you are a pro and want to play in an orchestra or band, there are finer, more specialized instruments to be had, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with this violin for learning, or as a first violin for someone to become familiar with the instrument. And at the price, everyone should be able to afford to learn to play. ...
