3-0 out of 5 stars PC Only!!!
Based on the reviews above, I purchased this to shuttle files between my Motorola V710 and Mac running OS 10.3.7.Despite many attempts to clean up/re-format the disk, and removing .DS_STORE files before returning the disk to my phone, I have yet to get it to work between the Mac and my phone. As soon as I put a file on the disk from my Mac, even in the appropriate folder followed by removing .DS_STORE files, the disk stops working, and blocks access to other files stored on the phone. The best I can do is format it on the phone, and use it for extra storage. So, if you want something to pass files between your Mac and phone, keep looking!

5-0 out of 5 stars Must have accessory for your mobile phone!
I am very pleased with this memory card. I was able to transfer movies, MP3's and pictures to my Motorola v710 effortlessly. You simply drag whatever you want on the phone onto the disk on your computer! With normal quality, you can store around 40 songs on your phone. Just make sure you have a memory card adapter that can read SD memory cards.

NOTE FOR MAC USERS: If you are using a computer with Mac OS X to transfer files be warned, the computer will create an invisible file in the memory card named ".DS_STORE" that, if not erased, will crash your phone. No permanent damage will be done, but you will be unable to access anything you put on your card. To delete the file, find a program that can see invisible files.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have!
I bought the SanDisk 128MB TransFlash because the storage space on my cool, new Motorola V710 from Verizon is sorta skimpy (...just 10MB).Now I have no problems storing all my photos, video clips, and MP3s.The TransFlash is really, really tiny.According to SanDisk, it's not meant to be handled regularly because the fairly soft casing is prone to damage if handled roughly.Remember to format the TransFlash first before using.Have fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Expanded storage for the Motorola V710
Recently I picked up the Motorola V710 (verizon) phone that is compatable with this memory card. The Transflash card used to be called T-Flash and was for some reason renamed. In the package an included transflash to SD memory adapter allows you to connect to a SD compatable memory reader for a PC through a USB 2.0 interface.

The first thing that struck me as amazing is the size of the transflash memory.120mb in a little device that I can barely keep hold of in two fingers. It tucks away neatly into the transflash memory port on the Motorola V710 unnoticed. This is one of the first phones to feature a built in 1.2 megapixel camera, mp3 player and video camera, so the need for expanded storage is a must.

I purchased a cheap SD memory reader and plugged the transflash card to the SD adapter and it immediately read as a removable storage drive on my Windows XP based computer. One problem I did have was files kept getting corrupted when I tried to read them on the phone.I fixed this by formatting the card (just like formatting a built in hard drive). Not sure if this was a problem of how the phone formatted the memory when it built all the default directories or if it was the reader or card itself. But the format fixed it with no further issues.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great card, but slow write speed
I've been using this card with my Canon S400 for the past 9 months and am very pleased with it.However, about a month ago, I noticed that the write speed increased from about a second to three-four seconds per image. It's kind of annoying since it was so quick before, but other than that, the card has served me well!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good value, but watch out for compatibility
Unlike Lexar or Sandisk, Viking does not design or make the components that go into their flash memory cards, instead they use off-the-shelf components (controller and memory core) made by others. This means two things: 1) lower cost (to Viking), and 2) compatibility with devices may not be as robust as Lexar or Sandisk. There have been numerous reports about incompatibility between Viking flash memory and various digital cameras and PDAs.You should do a web search before buying this product.

That said, this Viking CF card should work in most digital cameras or older Pocket PCs that take CF.The rated speed of 8x means this is not suitable for digital SLR's such as the Nikon D70 or Canon EOS Digital Rebel which need higher-speed CF cards (40x or higher). Most consumer, non-SLR digital cameras will find the speed of this card more than adequate.128MB holds about 80-100 5MP, high-quality pictures (depending on the complexity of each picture and the particular camera model).I personally recommend if you have a 4MP or more camera, you should have a 256MB memory card as your primary card, while carrying a 128MB card like this Viking as a spare.

In short, this Viking 128MB CF card is good for the money.Just make sure it's compatible with your digital camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Viking vs. Sandisk
First I bought a sandisk and after a month of use got damaged, I tryed to comunicate with them a lot, they have the worst customer service, then i gave up. then i bought this Viking like a year ago, and im still using it.

1-0 out of 5 stars They denied the rebate request, what a rip-off!
Your rebate submission has been received.
Unfortunately your rebate is denied for the following reasons:
REQUEST POSTMARKED AFTER CLOSE OF PROGRAM DEADLINE
REQUIRED POSTMARK BEFORE 09/10/04; ACTUAL POSTMARK 09/13/04
***********************************************

There was absolutely no cut-off submission deadline given, except the purchase by date and submit within a certain time after receiving purchase.
All were followed to the "T".

I submitted the rebate immediately after I received the merchandise from Amazon.

Give me a break, I'll never touch another thing from viking except with a 10' pole.

If it was not so piddling an amount, this would be worth reporting to FCC, but the state of customer protection in this country make you jump through even more hoops, probably for nothing, more heartache.
Just forego rebates, send Viking back to the boat and purchase another brand.

3-0 out of 5 stars You May Not See Your Rebate
So far, the only way I have been able to obtain my rebate is to pester the rebate company for months until they finally decide I am not going to give up until I get my rebate. Not worht it. The company uses a web site called "wheresmyrebate" com. Do not trust them. Other than that, the card is excelent and I recomend the card, just not the company policies. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Update firmware
Anyone having any issues with these discs will most likely have a simple download from the manufacturer of the DVD burner to fix the problem. I did. I burned 3 bad ones to begin with. I figured there was a problem. I went to the DVD drive makers website, downloaded the firmware and since then i have burned over 1,400 of these exact same DVD's and had only 2 other coasters. They even honor their rebates. At least, with me they did. I have had trouble with FUJI, and MAXELL too often to mention. But, not with these. I have over a 99% success rate. Get to know your computer a little and get all updates for everything on your system. Most problems should be fixed by that. Hope I've shed some light. But, do be sure you are completely read up on your firmware before you install it. If you do it wrong, your drive could be messed up. But, when done right, it helps on all levels. HAPPY FLAG DAY!

5-0 out of 5 stars I'd just finished my spool of 100 ...
When I first ordered this last year I was skepical about the name brand for its burning speed, but since then I have no costers and everyone plays fine. I burn DVD's, pictures, Mpegs, zip files, you name it I stored it. when I go back for info or to play everyone works great. I'm waiting for their next sale/rebate.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not reliable
I am just about through a 100 disk spindle of these using a NEC 3250A drive.Unfortunately, I had already burned a great many of them before discovering that they just did not make it.When the drive finally burns at a true 8x (about the last 1/4), things just fall apart. No actual errors, but on playback all the problems show up, massive pixelation, pauses, skips. The only way to use these, for me, is to burn them at 6x.Might as well have saved some money and bought the 4x ones.

I found nothing but rather rave reviews on Newegg regarding these, but you look around everywhere else and people have much the same problem... they are unreliable at 8x speed.I also found out why the reviews on Newegg are good... they kick out the bad reviews... mine was rejected for no real reason other than it was negative.

So, from now on I pay a bit more and use true name brand media.I have NEVER had any problems with any of the major DVD media suppliers.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the time or money
Bought these Ridata discs a couple months back. The cheap price was attractive, but that's all I have to say about these disks.I probably get a good 25% of the discs burn correctly, while the remaining have piled up to an impressive coaster collection.Kinda frustrating whenever you're 10 minutes into burning, you get an error and the disc is ejected.I'd recommend a name brand like Memorex instead.Hardly had issues with them.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Reliable
Similar to others here, about 3 months after burning, an entire spindle of Maxell branded RICOHJPN-R01-002 went bad. They all developed a visible ring about 1/3 through the disc, & are unreadable after the first 1/3 by all my players (Philips 727, Asus, & Pioneer 8) (oddly except a Cyberhome 500 which reads them fine). I will NEVER knowing by Ricoh again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good except...
This mini SD card worked fine in my Audiovox SMT5600 as well as using it with the adapter in my Motorola MPx200.My Printer was able to read the card and scan to it (w/adapter) and I could also use it just fine as a removeable media format on XP.The only problem I encountered was when using the mini SD was when using the adapter and trying to increase the storage of my flash based MP3 player. For some reason Windows Media Player said that the disk was invalid. So I'm not sure if that was a WMP, MP3 or SD card thing but all in all it works pretty well. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Usage in a Zire31 PDA
I bought the Viking 256MB SD card for use with my Zire31 PDA. I have installed eReader on the card and use the card mainly to store eBooks and photos. So far I havn't had any major problem with the card. Occasionally (maybe once or twice a day) the PDA will stop detecting the card (not as bad as it sounds), but I can usually go back to the PDA main menu, select something else (the calculator, etc.), go back to the main menu and then select the Viking 256MB card and the PDA will then begin to detect the card again. If that doesn't work I simply eject the card and then push it back in. The above two methods have worked every time and it only takes a few seconds. I have never lost any data from the card. I don't know why this situation occurs but for the type of usage I'm using the card for and the low cost of the card I am still happy with my purchase. I didn't have any problem with delivery.

5-0 out of 5 stars Costs less - works great
What can I say? I bought this 256MB secure digital card to expand the tiny 32MB memory on our digital camera. It was much cheaper than those I found at the local stores. It works great. I just plugged it into the camera slot and my camera can now take hundreds of pictures. No more running out of "film" and no more deleting shots because the camera's memory is full. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars How many pictures will it store?
How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about.Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The SanDisk 128MB Memory Stick, like most 128MB cards, will store on average 142 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 106 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera,64 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 51 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 40 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best all purpose stick
I've got three of these and they work just as well as Sony's.I take pictures with my Sony on them but I use them instead of floppy disks.I put it in my reader at work, home, and at my mother's, and download programs from the internet directly to them, transfers files to them and use them the same way as floppys are use.I haven't used the floppy on any of the computers for the past year.Small as a stick of gum, can be packed in a wallet.Best item invented!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice product
I bought this product for use in my Sony Clie handheld computer. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to the Sony brand memory stick, and I am glad to say that this product has worked flawlessly over the past year.

I would buy a Sandisk product again.

The plastic packaging is ridiculous, wasteful and HAZARDOUS as I just managed to cut myself trying to open it.Seriously, what a waste of resources.I can't imagine the energy and waste used just for the packaging. Why go through the effort of marketing and sitting around a conference room discussing how cool it would be to package a MEMORY STICK with razor sharp plastic with a neat colorful cardboard backround just so it can be thrown away to forever stay on the face of this earth to injure another person!!!? ah!! 1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY FROM AMAZON.COM
Better cards are available from other retailers - just check epinions.com - you will find a whole bunch for $19 or less. Also they deliver, while Amazon does not.The item has label "usually ships in 24 hours", but I have waited 5 (five !) days, and still it was not shipped. Do not buy this card, and check other place than Amazon. The Amazon stinks...

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic card - unbeatable price
I bought this SimpleTech card in early 2003 and have had great results with it.I have shot over 34,000 pictures on it using my Canon PowerShot G3.I use it extensively with my Dell X5 PDA.For the last month, I have been using it in my new Nikon D70 (over 5000 pictures so far from that).I originally paid about $60 for this card.

The card has never failed me.I have given it extreme use.I also have a 256 MB Sandisk card (it failed me once, and I had it replaced under warranty) and a 256 MB Viking card.I had read a review that the Viking card may not be compatible with the G3, so I never used it in that camera.I used the Viking card only in my Canon Powershot S400.However I did use all three cards in my PDA and in the S400.I have used the SimpleTech and the Sandisk both in my D70, as well as a new Sandisk Ultra II 1 GB card.

By comparison, the Sandisk 256 MB card was definitely the slowest when performing the same tasks. It could not keep up with mp3 playback on my PDA.It has noticibly slower write times for photos on my cameras, especially the G3. The SimpleTech and the Viking cards perform about the same as each other.Neither has noticeable slowness on my PDA.Photo write times on the G3 were acceptable with this SimpleTech card.It really did not cause a delay in shooting dut to waiting for pictures to write to the card.

Interestingly, on the D70, this SimpleTech card still keeps up well. The D70 has an advanced buffering system that can hold several (about 12 at normal quality full resolution) images while writing them to the card. This is so much buffer that rarely so I have the need to exceed this many shots in one burst. Thus, when I am using the SimpleTech card, it really does NOT slow down my shooting at all.

By comparison, I do notice that the D70 finishes writing pictures to my ULTRA II card sooner, especially after a burst of several frames.(based on the blinking light that indicates CF card activity)I really never have the need to shoot a continuous burst of frames all the way to a full 256 MB card.

My conclusion is that this 256 MB SimpleTech card is just about the best way to go for CF memory currently. It will cost you less to buy 4 of these (1 GB) than to buy one 1 GB Ultra II card. And then, if you have one of these fail, you will not be out of memory at a crucial time - because you have 3 other cards to use.And you would be able to get a replacement for the failed card later at your convenience.

I highly recommend using multiple smaller cards over single larger cards.256 MB is my size of choice, and this is my choice among inexpensive 256 MB cards. At the current price (around $20 at the writing of this review) you can't go wrong!

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable and fast
I have been using this 256MB card for an year now on two of my Canon digital camera and a Casio PDA. It has always been reliable and there is no diminishing in storage capacity. Read and write are slightly faster than my San disk 256MB.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Canon Digital Elph S230
I don't know what happened with an earlier reviewer, but my SimpleTech CF card works perfectly with my wife's Canon Digital Elph (Powershow S230). Never had any problems using it in my Minolta Dimage 7u either.

'Normal' SimpleTech cards consistantly write faster than other makers CF cards that are "High-Speed", 16x or whatever faster.

CF card speeds do vary depending on make and model of camera. My Dimage 7 writes a 5 megapixel image faster than my Powershot writes a 3.2 megapixel image. So any specific number given for read/write speed is relative and not absolute.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Customer Service!!
I give only 4 star because the CF card quit after a year of hard service. But if it worked flawlessly I would not have known how good of customer service Simpletech has.Hardly any time was spent on getting hold of customer service.Took less then 5 minutes to get RMA# and return instructions.2 Day Airborne service on replacement card...awsome! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great price...great product
I paid $30 for this same pack at Office Depot a few days ago.

They work great for me.I just finished converting some family VHS tapes to my Macintosh dual G5 2.3 Ghz with a 16x CD/DVD superdrive. I popped the finished DVD in my 1-month old Sony DVD player. It also played well in my 7-year old Sony DVD player.

There aren't many DVD+R DL choices out there.I had no problems with my experience.

1-0 out of 5 stars Never a Good Burn
I've tried to burn these with my Pioneer A08XL using Ulead and Nero software. After 9 attempts (I bought 3 three packs), I never got a playable disk. With Verbatim and Imation, all burns have been successful. So pay a bit more and save yourself a headache.

1-0 out of 5 stars ok disks
These disks are slow and freeze up alot. Most of the time they dont work with any roxio/nero programs.Buy verbatim dvd+r dl and if u guys have ne image scribe dvd+r dl info or dvd+rw dl email me at snitbender@msn.com!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars 1 3 pack = 3 coasters
I wasted a three pack trying to burn to the Memorex disks to a USB ND-2510A.I was using both Nero and Roxio DVD Copy, and had the same results.I went out and bought the Verbatim DL disks and did not have any problems whatsoever.

1-0 out of 5 stars stinkin riteks
There are only a few DVD+R DL media makers out there. MKM, Ritek, Ricoh, & philips, i believe. Most labels use the ritek media because they're cheap, and that's exactly what they are "CHEAP", crap, anyway you want to describe it.I've never had problems burning and playing back MKM Verbatims but these I bought, burned as DVDROM bookytpe, & verified.Played them on 3 different players and they exhibit alot of freezes, skips, etc.Why o why do memorex use riteks. So I won't be buying anymore DL media from memorex. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Own three SimpleTech 256 and a SimpleTech 512 CF cards
I've taken over 24,000 pixs with these on a Nikon CoolPix 5000 and only once did the 512 give me a fright. But in the end, the pixs were there. It happened during file transfer from the card to a PowerMac laptop. It could've been my fault; a little careless last weekend.

Speed of writing on SimpleTech cards is respectable; price is right though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I have used this card for about 6 months and never had any problems. I used it in a Canon G5 camera.

1-0 out of 5 stars Incompatible with Muvo2
I purchased this card and the Sandisk 512 CF.Simpletech wouldn't format in the Muvo2.The Sandisk worked like a charm.Previous experience had this card fail in a week.I should have known better.I have never had a problem with Sandisk, but have been bitten twice with SimpleTech.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reliable, and an excellent value . . .
I use this card in a Canon 10D digital SLR camera, and have found it a very reliable performer. There have been no major problems either writing any kind of data, or extracting the files later. The larger capacity is great for digital SLR camera users. For the Canon 10D, a 6 mega pixel camera, maximum JPEG file size at the highest quality setting averages about 2.5MB, and typically about 190 images can be saved to the card. Using the card in a lower resolution digital point and shoot camera, capacity would of course be many times greater.

As more files are written and the card gets closer to capacity, data transfer speed seems to slow down a bit.Still the card performs reasonably well even when taking a series of images in rapid succession, say four or five in two second interval. With a digital point and shoot camera, transfer speed should not be an issue.

Competitively priced... Economical and reliable, SimpleTech's 512 card is a great value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable and good value....
Over the past five years I have owned several SimpleTech CF cards and they have all performed flawlessly and have great performance and good pricing. Overall they are reliable and a good value. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great card!
This card is so fast.I have never had a proublem with any Lexar product.A+ in my book.

2-0 out of 5 stars It works but not as you would presume it should !!!
There is no problem with the card or capacity. But when I compare my results with Lexar 12X card, there is NO difference in the time it takes to store the image ( once you click the camera ) !!!. Yes, restoring images from the card to computer is very fast compared to my 12x card. But while snapping photos there is no difference in speed. This could be because of the camera or some other reason...but my main reason to buy a 40x card was to snap photos as fast as possible.

By the way I am using this card in Nikon 5700 camera. Make sure that your camera supports the Write Acceleration Technology. he CF card will work, **BUT** there was no increase in speed over other cards. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Great
I bought this card for our honeymoon in Hawaii. It worked perfectly. All the pictures came out vivid and beautiful.I couldn't have been happier with this memory card!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite good.
I picked up this card for my Garmin Ique 3600 GPS/PDA as I was told a fast speed card would help.I'm no expert, but I haven't experienced and problems with the card.It is reliable and speedy.

The Lexar Media 256MB SD Card SD256-231, like most 256MB cards, will store on average 284 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 213 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera,128 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 102 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 80 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thumbs up.
Just bought one of these, and it works fine. I need to buy another one, and I think I'll try these guys again.

To the guy who said "stick to brands you know". Almost all SD cards come from the same 4 or 5 manufactures smart guy. The one I got is a Toshiba card. You're just throwing your money away on brand names.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Card at a Bargain Price
[...] I have two of these memory cards now, and I just love their performance.I use the cards for my Panasonic digital camera, and I have filled one card with over 700 pictures with absolutely no problems whatsoever.I haven't experienced any of the speed problems that other reviewers say they have, and the claim that the card is made by Toshiba is completely factless and ridiculous. There is no better value for the money on the market right now, and reading and writing on this card for me has been very fast.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect companion to my T3
I'm using it for about 6 months with Palm Tungsten T3 and had no problems. It is much faster than my previous Sandisk 256 Mb. Unlike other users I did not experince any speed problem for both reading and writing and recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect
I read other reviews of this SD card and they werent to great.I was planning on buying the Sandisk card, but every store is sold out so I went with this. Its perfect!Nothing has gone wrong yet.Im using it in a Kodak 6.1 mp camera and it works great for me.Takes no time at all to save or delete photos! Its a great card, just sorry some people are having trouble with it.

2-0 out of 5 stars A lame duck card
I purchased the 1gb Lexar card, and 5 hours after I started using it, I've got corrupted data that no amount of formating or data deletion will remedy.Given that I had already disceted the box into small pieces to send in for mail in rebates, I contacted Lexar and sent it to them on a Warrenty claim [cheaper then driving back to the retail location I purchased it at anyway].

I got it back yesterday, and it was suffering the same problem I sent it in for in the first place!

Their solution, they pay for the return shipping of card #2, and swap it out for two 512mb cards.

Not happy. But at least they are somewhat responsive to fixing the problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars So far so good!
It's working great with my Navman iCN 510 GPS (which btw is an incredible GPS system!)No problem, fast access and fast download of the maps.Read some people taking forever to download maps, so was surprised to find that it took fraction of the time for me.Don't know if it was the card or the PC which determines the speed, but it took me about 45 minutes to download about 600MB worth of map onto my Lexar. ...
