where the heck is the bass?
There are a couple of things to rave about with the Senn px200.Its most charming feature is its compact foldable design.Secondly,its thd % is low, so sound is very very clean.The flattery stops there.

I waited patiently like a saint for the bass to present itself after the "burn-in period."Well, the bass never really gets to where it needs to be for actual listening enjoyment.I didn't even have a moderately good time with these.Bass which isn't there to begin with will not miraculously appear all of a sudden...there is no bass, ABSOLUTELY NO BASS with the Senn px200 period.I'm no basshead by any means, but come on.Where the heck is the bass?

Alongside its basslessness,the Senn px200 is also a bright little performer.Ouch...that's two strikes...no bass and shrill on top of that.Hmnn... needless to say, I sent these back to Amazon.

Seriously ponder whether these are worth the purchase.Consider the Sennheiser hd 202 for a closed design headphone.For about 25 dollars,it's great-sounding and easily portable.

Near perfect form and function
I bought these a little over 6 months ago.This is the best headphone purchase I've ever made.I use them at the office for listening to music. For the price, you can't beat them.They produce great quality sounds and the do an admirable job blocking out other sounds too.Full rich sound, good for everything from dance to classical.

The industrial design aspect is simply amazing.They are very comfortable to wear.They collapse in to a great form factor for either putting in your desk or in your bag.The cord, itself, uses a sort of sliding binder to either keep the right and left cords neat when the headphones are put away.The case is the best I've ever seen for headphones.Everything gets neatly tucked away or wound up so that storage is simple and safe.

Simply a great product

Adequate
Sennheiser has built an overall ok pair of headphones. Although priced high, these headphones introduce a new, very durable case system. These headphones actually fold up and go into a very small transport case, which seems to stand past lots of banging and hitting.

The headphones are light and quite comfortable. Although these headphones could be much better than what they are, I'd generally call them adequately, they do their job. The sound quality is good, though it misses that so important base.

Think twice before buying these, investigate other options as well, though if you settle on these, I don't blame you.

very good for portable devices
sennheiser px200 is a good pair of headphones for those who would use them for a portable device. Small, compact, comfortable, they also sound very good compared to what you can get from this size of headphones. The sound is crystal clear and very good for acoustic music. With other types of music you will find them a bit sharp. But if you have adjustable EQ then they are fine. Good bass too. Only a few flaws: do not isolate you from the outside noise 100%; give a weak static noise when used with PC or something more powerful. I use them with my iRiver cd player and they are just the perfect match for it.

Great Headphones
I've had my new PX200s for a couple of days now and no, they are not as good as the HD-414s of my youth but they are great portable headphones.

This was a major disappointment!!!
Bought these on my way from Australia to Norway. They did not even come close to reducing engine-noise significantly. I suspect that the ear fit is crucial for the function. However there is no way I can position the plugs so that I get good sound quality. The Bass disappears but get better when the plugs are pressed firmly into the ears and held there wit great discomfort. I would choose any cheap set of earphones any day instead of this junk.

HORRIBLE PRODUCT SONY NC -11
These ear buds have to be the worst in the industry.I have ordered 4 sets of the NC11, hoping that the others were just defective, but oh no, not the case at all.They simply do not do the job of filter out all outside noise.Not even close do they come.It is so disappointing because I have been a loyal Sony fan for many years, more years that I would like to remember.The NC11 is so bad ( how bad is it) :), that if I were Sony I would recall every set made and find another day job.HORRIBLE...HORRIBLE...

Short lived life, but good while it lasted
I got these headphones in January, but they died just over the 90-day warranty.One thing before I get to the details is that Sony customer support is HORRIBLE.It really is like talking to a wall when you use the "live customer support".Don't even bother using the repair/exchange program for something out of warranty, for example, i got these headphines for about $80, and they wanted me to pay $76 plus shipping to give me a refurbished one or to repair it (the replacements have no warranty, so you might as well be asking for a broken one).Anyways, the problem i had with these was not the noise cancelling, which was wonderful, but the fit.I like the length of the right headphone, but the headphones themselves have a problem with tiwsting our of straightness so sometimes the point forward.The broken part of my headphones was the left earbud.It just died one day and would not work.The right headphone worked perfectly, noise cancelling and all.

Bikin' and Yard Work
I purchased these earphones because I wanted to hear less road and engine noise while riding my motorcycle.My stock MP3 player ear phones hurt my ears and did not stay put inside my full face helmet.I bought 2 different styles of earphones at Target, basing my decision on which earphone looked more comfortable inside my helmet.

After experimenting with the 3 different styles of earphones, I found the biggest problem was I consistently heard too much road, engine or wind noise.To overcome this problem, I decided to buy noise reducing earphones.

The Sony earphones were very, very comfortable, they fit well inside my helmet and would stay in place for hours.The noise cancelling feature was effective (see chart below).

The earphones also worked well when I did yard work (mowing, edging).I think the theory that you "save" your haring when you use them is probably true because you don't have to the volume turned up so loud because you don't have to overcome so much background noise.

The biggest disappointment is the earphone cords, they are way too long and get tangled easily.The other problem is remembering to turn off the sound reducing part of the ear phones.If you turn off the MP3, the earphones are still on.There is a red "idiot light" that glows when it is on, but it is very hard to see in the daylight.Below is a little chart to help you understand how I assessed various features (Scale is 1-10, 10 is the best)

I would reccommend these head phones.

Very disappointing - a waste of money
As other reviewers have pointed out here (see E.K.Clark's detailed appraisal), these earphones hardly offer any more noise reduction than you would get with much cheaper soft 'earbuds'. Frankly the noise cancelling effect is so slight that it's difficult to tell whether the unit is switched on or off.I've tried them on planes and trains, and they fail to significantly reduce engine noise, voices or air conditioning noise.

This is the first time I've been disappointed by a Sony product, and I felt quite betrayed after believing the claims for noise reduction on the package.Claims of 'reducing noise by 70%', and 'peace and quiet wherever you go' are extremely misleading.Sony should be ashamed of themselves.

To make matters worse, the wires are stiff and far too long to make them comfortable to use even as ordinary earphones.

I can't understand the positive reviews posted here.I can only assume that the reviewers have never tried the 'ordinary' soft rubber earbud phones (Sony MDR-EX70LP), which do as good a job of sealing out noise, at a third of the price.

Sennheiser seals its reputation as the classiest name in headphones with the stunning HD600, a stylish and high-tech headphone that's exquisitely pleasing to listen to and nearly as pleasing to wear. A near-perfect mating of art and science, the HD600 uses an open, over-ear design to eliminate unwanted resonances and optimally position its large, dynamic drivers just outside your ears--so they work more like miniature speakers than traditional in-ear or against-ear drivers.

Granted, all this comes at a pretty hefty price for a headphone. But the lightweight HD600 represents one hefty value. It so far outshines other headphones in sound quality, build quality, and comfort that despite its price it's still a strong value.

Of course, with a headphone like this and a name like Sennheiser, it's the sound you're really after. With stand-alone loudspeakers, the goal is generally to provide balanced sound across as much of the audible sound spectrum as possible (roughly 20 to 20,000 Hz). High-frequency reproduction is easier than low, simply because low-frequency reproduction requires a speaker to move so much air. Speakers capable of rendering deep bass usually use large speaker cones--8 inches or more in diameter--to help move the necessary volume of air.

Headphones, of course, are restricted in the sizes of the drivers they can use. Being so much closer to your ears, the amount of air they need to move to convey bass frequencies is much smaller, but still a challenge for what are basically tiny speaker cones. And anyone who's listened to a lot of headphones can tell you, there's almost always a tradeoff in what a headphone driver is capable of. Some produce balanced overall sound with little in the way of bass; others aim for bass at the expense of natural-sounding midrange and coloration-free treble.

How My Ears Could Live Without These!
I love to listen music everyday! When I come to school or work morning I usually listen music with stereo headpnones. My own headpones are cheap and not good. One day, I tried my friend Factory Reconditioned Sennheiser HD600 Over-the-Ear Open Hi-Fi Professional Stereo Headphones. I couldn't believe my ears! Sound was so excelent, real and pure! Great portability, but can't compete w/ traditional karaoke
This "karaoke in a microphone" system is small and extremely portable. You can carry it from party to party. Just hook it to a TV or better yet - a music sound system home theater and you are ready to sing with your friends. The sound quality is acceptabe, but not great, as noise could clearly be heard behind the music background.

The music reproduction of this system is not close to the original version of your favorite songs. Traditional karaoke has two major modes: listening (allow you to hear the song with the demonstration singer(s)'s vocal to familiarize yourself with the song) and the singing mode (with music only or music and back up singers' vocal so that you can sing as a lead singer). This portable karaoke system, however, only has one mode which is the singing mode. Therefore, you must be familiar with the songs in order to sing them. Even in this singing mode, you will not get back-up singer's vocal. So if the original version of your favorite song has back up vocal (voices of people that sing on the background to assist the main singer in bringing the songs to climax or adding harmony to the songs. e.g music of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Marc Anthony) or if the original version is a duet or group performance (Barbara Streisand and Bryan Adams duet; Nsync; All for One, Boys2Men, Backstreet Boys), you will not be able to sing by yourself. If you do, your "production" will sound really flat or lose its flavor as there's no back up vocal to "sing" along with you.

One good thing about this system is that you can adjust the music volume, microphone volume, the melody presence, and the pitch (high/low music tones/notes). Pitch adjustment is a great feature of karaoke.

You can add up to four additional song/music cartridges into this microphone; however, be sure to test the compatibility as this microphone may not work with some music cartridges, e.g. Alternative Rock Vol 2 due to manufacturing defect with some units. Many of the songs cannot play.

You can add a second (wireless) microphone although the sound of this extended mic is not great.

One excellent feature of this system is it can grade your perfomance although the grading sometimes is not accurate (it gives you high scores although you don't sing close to the original version and make many mistakes). If you have a group of friends, this scoring feature will allow you and your friends to enter into a fun karaoke competition.

If you are looking for an affordable portable karaoke system so that you can have good time with a bunch of friends, this is it. If you are looking for a karaoke system that makes you feel like an artist or gets you ready for the next season of American Idol, this is not the one. IF you are looking for a karaoke system so that you can sing at home just by yourself , this may not be the one. If you listen to radio a lot and are very familiar with the songs, then you can sing with this karaoke system. If you hear a song only once or twice - you like the song and want to try singing the song with this microphone, I don't think you can make it

Great fun for a great price.
The last review says, quote "Great portability but can't compete with traditional karaoke" and gives it 2 stars? What a joke. Of course it can't compare to traditional karaoke system, that's because the Leadsinger costs UNDER $120, as opposed to a "traditional karaoke" machine tha cost $400+ min! "sigh"
Anyways, my experience with Leadsinger is pretty positive. I bought the unit for my girlfriend, who is a karaoke junkie. Now we fight over whos turn it is to sing.
She had a older karaoke machine that just can't compare with the Leadsinger. Why?
Portability: The system can easily fit in a small bag that allows us to take it to friends, to parties, everywhere. Her old system was a five pound boom box that was cumbersome to transport.
Songs: The only negative thing that I noticed was that all of the guitar parts are played with a cheesy keyboard. As a guitar player, listening to the Eddie Van Halen solo on Micheal Jackson's 'Beat It' on a goofy keyboard is pretty dreadful. But friends have told me that replacing the guitar with a keyboard is pretty standard for karaoke. Other then that, the songs are pretty decent. My favorites are the Beatles, Elvis, and Queen. A friend bought his Leadsinger in the Phillipenes and his came with Radiohead's Creep & Cures Boy's Don't Cry which would have been nice to have on this version, but they aren't.
Adding songs: I have not bought the chip with additional songs yet(hopefully there will be no trouble with adding the chip), but just the idea of getting 100 or 150 additional songs for $50 or so it exciting. My girlfriends older karaoke system charged $15 for a cd with 12 or so songs. Having to switch cds that contain only 10 songs would get old really quickly.
The bottom line is, if you are looking for an inexpensive karaoke system to practice at home with (before hitting the 'traditional' karaoke bar), to take to parties, or to just sit around the house with friends, drinks, and fun, this is a great system with a fun factor of 5+. (Hopefully it wont crash on me tomorrow!)
Is it good for children? I think it would be. None of the 'older'songs are offensive, and it seems to have plenty of childrens songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and your kid will be the first (or should be) on his block to be belting out the Beatles 'Yesterday' or Queens 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.

get it. Plus that this is a great price I have seen them just like this for well over $400 yep.

Bad memory chip or bad mic?
I purchased the Leadsinger 3700 along with the 80's pop rock and the Teens 2003 musikartridge's.It all worked nicely until trying to access the songs on the Teens 2003 chip.The titles of all the songs would show on the screen but when pressing play, the unit would either turn off or it just wouldn't work.I tried relocating the chip into the other memory slots and the same problem occured.Since I had no problems with the other music chip or the built in songs, I concluded that the Teens 2003 chip was just a bad one.After exchanging the chip for another one, I had the exact same problems.This time I'm returning everything.It's not worth the hassle.

Great Karaoke System for those not ready to spend $500+ on b

Cons: Volume on main microphone could be better, should be as good as that of the wireless one. Will need to play with the main mic, echo and music volume controls to get best sound. I don't like too much echo, so I take most of it off, keep the main mic volume on highest volume and lower the music volume so the mic's volume is nice and loud. Song chips can be very expensive. The Leadsinger LS-3700 song chips with 100, 150 or 200 songs can cost from $50 to $90 each. There are other complete karaoke microphone systems (best ones from Koritech and Entertech) for $400 or $500 that come with thousands of songs. Couldn't find a complete set with main mic, wireless mic and song chips. A free carry/storage bag would have been nice. ... Read more

You will fall in love with this turntable!
It's hard not to have the twinkle in your eye and Cloud 9 aura about you after buying this turntable.This gorgeous, solidly constructed turntable will seduce you with its sound and its aesthetic appeal.Assembly only takes a minute or two, and the instruction manual is well-written.This turntable does not feel like a plastic hunk of junk that will die in a few years.With the way this mostly-metal turntable was designed and constructed, I expect to grow old with it.Believe all these five-star reviews--it is easy to fall in love with this turntable.It looks and sounds great and is worth every penny!

Treat Your Ears!
The AT PL120 is a the best "bang for the buck" for a mid-priced good sounding home use table I've come across yet. It has DJ features like reverse, stylus light, up to 20% pitch adjustment etc-but it's not really a DJ table. I would characterize this machine as a good home system unit suitable for the non "audiophile" who nevertheless appreciates good sounding vinyl. The supplied cartridge sees to that quite well. It really sounds good on a variety of music. The tables DJ features are just uneeded "extras" in my opinion. The important stuff is the direct drive motor which is powerful with lots of torque. The quartz lock control is dead on-what you really need. All in all this is a good sounding good value no fuss home unit. If you're really a DJ get a Technics 1200 instead-don't waste your time with the AT PL120. However, if your reading this I'll bet your not a DJ but just enjoy listening to vinyl-if so go for it! You can't go wrong with this one!

Not up to par
I ordered the PL120 and I am surprised at the design flaws it has. For one thing the cables are the shortest length I have ever seen in a commercial turnatable(less than three feet). It has no rubber mat. It has a fabric slip mat, but that is supposed to sit on the bare aluminum platter. The motor has a plenty of torque and it seems to run quite steady. The tracking force adjustment is very touchy - it comes out of adjustment sometimes . The anti-skating does not seem to have much effect. The cueing has a height adjustment, but it is quite jumpy as well. This is not acceptable in an 'Audiophile' machine - much less a 'DJ Grade' turntable. The cartridge that comes with it is not high-end , but it is acceptable. It does look sharp though.

New life to my old records
I had an old Technics turntable that was cheap to begin with, and it needed parts to work, so I started looking around for a new turntable. I am surely glad I read the reviews posted here on Amazon, because they convinced me to buy the AT-PL120. The turntable arrived today 2-25-05, and I put it together almost immediately. I have never experienced a turntable of this quality before. I swear the old records sound much richer and clearer than they ever did before. I really appreciate the pre-amp, because my surround sound amp does not have turntable jacks. This was my first experience with a direct drive versus my belt drives of the past. What a huge noticeable difference. My wife and I kept all of our records, and it was very nice to listen to some of our old favorites in amazingly clear sound that is so rich. If you want to resurrect your old record collection and possibly hear that music in more detail than ever before, you should consider this very nice quality turntable. The sound is extremely adequate for the non-professional.I find it excellent.The long cord is very nice.The headphones do not fold up in any useful way ("folding design" is really an exaggeration) and hence are not suited to being carried around.The major drawback is that these headphones are insanely uncomfortable to wear for more than 1-3 hours at a time.There is no way to adjust them to be more comfortable.It's a serious problem.

CPC: Cheap plastic crap
I'm wearing my headphones now listening to music on my laptop, which is good.The bad news is that my right earpiece is attached with shoe-goo because it broke and there was not enough surface area to just glue the stem piece.That is to say, the whole earpiece is glued solid to its bracket so it doesn't move.The over-the-head thing is taped together with packaging tap because it, too, broke when I put the things on my rather large head.They sound fine and all, but I could make a more durable headphone set out of balsa wood.Do not consider these things portable unless your bodyguard is willing to carry them in a padded suitcase.

Maybe I should just glue to the earpieces to my head.

Not worth the effort
Sony has let me down yet again with these muddy sounding headphones. I've been doing studio recording for quite some time now and I needed a set of headphones to replace the jensens that I've been using for the past 3-4 years (background: I bought the jensen "PC" headphones new off the net for $12 us. and they have clear, bright sound, a little low on the bottom end but well worth the money. They're only now starting to wear out after regular use for extented periods of time). I've tried the sony phones with various setups: analog recorder, digital amp, cd walkman, mini stereo system, pc and the jensens always outshined them. I also got a couple of other opinions that thought the same thing: the sony phones are too bassy. Maybe rap and r&b fans are the crowd sony is targeting. Either way for $40-50, these headphones were lousy. Also, they weren't all that comfortable either...a little too snug for my liking.

Totally Disappointed
These headphones have nothing but boomy bass. Highly imbalanced sound. I am sort of an audiophile, but when i bought a $35 headphones, i did not expect the moon and the stars. Sad to say i was let down. the basic headphones that came with my discman sound clearer than these.

Tried them out with my Dell Laptop, Sony Discman and Harman Kardon amp. Bad performance in every case. Allowed 20 hours of break in, still only slight difference. They sound as if the music is lost somewhere within and all you hear are muffled thuds. This is not at all expected from a respected brand like Sony. I would give a total thumbs down to this product.

If all you want to hear is boom and dont care about clarity or balance in sound then maybe this is for you, else stay away. I am returning mine.

Great Headphones
Yes, the price is a bit high, but these are high quality headphones.The single line out the left ear is the best and reduces any chance of catching or tangles. The sound is unbelievable, best from any headphones I own.I use them with my DJ MP3 player for great sound quality from high quality MP3s.

As for comfort, I can see why people don't like them, but I use them in the gym and for my ears, they fit nicely with little to no discomfort, depending on how they are sitting on your head.

If your like me and can't wear ear buds cause they fall out, these are a great alternative for high quality audio.

Great Headphones For Running
i bought these several months ago, and i have nothing but good things to report: these headphones are sturdy, waterproof (and sweatproof!), and have that nifty reflective patch on both ear pieces. they never slip off my head, and i find the sound quality is surprisingly good. with some adjusting here and there, i can manage to wear squash glasses or sunglasses with these, though having all that stuff behind my ears is the not the best case scenario. basically, these headphones turned out to be much higher quality than i was expecting. great product!

The best headphones
I love these headphones so much that I've bought two pairs so far and I'll probably buy my third pair after my second wears out. I've been wearing this style of headphones for so long that I can't imagine wearing anything else! The sound quality is excellent, even when they're falling apart- I wore my first pair so long that they did begin to fall apart! I only bought my second pair because I felt like my first pair was getting old. I don't bring them around with me anymore, but they still work excellently at home!

These headphones are the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn- I've even slept in them multiple times without any problems. It's amazing how much abuse they can take and still work, after years of being twisted and crammed into bags and ripped (the ear foam part)!

After owning two pairs of these, I can safely say that if you decide on these headphones, you will be satisfied.

Worthless
I was hoping to be able to move without cords.WHat I got was worse than any cord.

The amount of background noise/whine is horrible.Even with every other electrical system in the house turned off, and the main shut down, they still whine and hiss.The player and the phones were on a filtered battery back-up.

The "auto-on" switch is cute, but due to the bad design, you cannot adjust the headphones to fit.

As far as 150', HA.Could barely get 75'.

All in all you would be better off with a couple of cans and some string.

Love/Hate Relationship
While looking for a new set of wireless headphones, I was dreaming of baking Christmas cookies while listening to Christmas music and this would require walking to the kitchen and leaving the stereo in the bedroom. It seemed these headphones would work since the distance is relatively short and other headphones have worked so well I could even walk outside.

"Transmission up to 150 feet" did not work for me. I walk out of the bedroom and the headphones start to hiss. In fact, it is very difficult to get these to work on a consistent basis and the stand design is annoying. When you set the headphones back on the stand, it takes a minute to get the silly headphones aligned for recharging. You can keep working at it until the green indicator light appears, but more than likely, you will
have to hold the transmitter at eye level and adjust it accordingly.

There is an "automatic tuning" button on the headphones so you can "try" to get the best reception of a signal. This has not always been overly fun because you have to keep pushing the button for what seems like minutes. They should have used a dial-style control because then you could quickly get reception. The automatic feature seems like more of a hassle than a help. The transmitter has a noise filter on/off switch and a channel selector that has three options. Once I played around with the channels I had better luck with reception while watching movies.

The automatic "on/off" feature on the headphones is supposed to preserve battery life, but I can't see why they could not allow you to turn off the headphones yourself.

So, now that I've told you all the disadvantages, this does seem to have a few major advantages. Unlike other headphones, I actually could use these while on my treadmill. Once I adjusted them properly, they seemed to work OK for watching movies.

The main thing I noted with these headphones is that the transmitter has to be in the same room as the headphones. So, if I want to listen to CDs I have to listen to them through the DVD player in the living room or have to stay in the bedroom with the stereo.

The headphones don't grip as tightly as I'd like and if you are exercising, they can fall off if you bend over and touch your toes, etc. The headphones are very comfortable and I'd say I have a love/hate relationship with these headphones.

Hissing is never tolerable and the earmuff review made me laugh because it might just be true. Overall, these are the most frustrating wireless headphones I've ever used. While my last headphones finally broke, I'm thinking of buying RCA WHP150C Wireless Headphones again and they are about 20 dollars less. With the RCA headphones, you can walk 125 feet away from the transmitter and still hear music. In fact, I just added them to my shopping cart and will be ordering the RCA headphones again because I love music too much to deal with hissing. Such a pity, these are very comfortable. I can use them with my stereo in the bedroom, but the RCA headphones work better when walking through the house or going outdoors. So, on the bright side, I'll have two headphones and won't have to move one from room to room. Always willing to try to look on the bright side. Sigh...

Just mediocre
Pros - good fit and easy on your ears. I like the auto on/off feature and have not had a problem putting the units back on the charging stand.
Cons - these phones are only good for short distances (less than 12 feet) and the futher you are away the more background noise you get. If this is how all wireless headphones are I won't be buying anymore for a long time !

More than 4 feet away? Forget it.
I purchased the Sony MDR-RF960RK Wireless headphones from Amazon about 4 months ago, with the intention of using them in conjunction with my home theater system.

I knew from the reviews what the limitations of the MDR-RF960RKs were -- good for TV, DVD and spoken word/broadcast; not so great for music.No problem -- TiVo was going to be the main source.

What I didn't know was how extremely poor these headphones were at receiving a signal past 4-5 feet.When sitting on the coach, listening via the headphones, with a CLEAR line of sight between me and the transmitter, I'd have constant static and crackle in the background -- often obscuring what I was trying to listen to.

After 1 hours worth of use, the problem would start to become acute; I assume the batteries in the phones would weaken, and the reception would thus become even worse.

I tried all the tricks that the Amazon.com commentators and the manual suggested -- different channel, noise reduction system on, turning the input signal on extremely high and then turning the volume down on the 'phones.No dice -- trying to watch anything over an hour would cause the static to be so severe that I couldn't concentrate on what I was listening to.

I used them for about 2 months, and then finally gave up, and decided to switch to the headphones many of the reviews had recommended in the first place -- the Sennheiser RS-65 wireless headphones.The Sennheiser are more expensive (though not by much, surprisingly -- I was fortunate to buy them when Amazon had them on sale), but they are WORTH it -- NO background noise, even with music; and I can literally walk around the entire basement without *any* static whatsoever.

I have found a use for the Sony headphones -- I've put them in my office at work, where the transmitter is no more than a foot from my chair, and use them to listen to MP3s and internet radio over my work PC.They're comfortable phones, easy to use and fairly good sound quality at this distance.And it's pleasent not to get tripped by wires when I'm moving my chair around.And the 1 hour restriction seems to affect them less at this close range.

But with the restriction of distance, I don't think they're worth the price -- unless you plan to use these strictly in close quarters.

Piece of Junk
These headphones are the worst piece of audio equipment I've experienced. As an avid audiophile, I can honestly state this is one of the worst of my investments in audio gear. Problems:
1. Cheap construction.
2. Very difficult to keep the signal tuned in when you move your head or lean down.
3. Bass response is excellent. The highs are very tinny.
4. Cannot get rid of the hiss no matter how much you change channels. Very annoying!
5. The volume control wheel and channel tuning button are difficult to locate when the phones are on your head.
6. No adjustment for the head strap. The phones fit very loose unless you have a super large head.

Headphones I have loved...
These headphones have got probably the best sound range for a $22.00 dollar pair of headphones I have ever heard. The noise canceling is also pretty incredible (that is comparing to headphones with no electronic help what so ever on noise canceling in this price range). I have owned personally the Bose TriPorts and these Sony MDRs may not have the exceptional clarity the TriPorts do, and lack the exceptional noise canceling, but having had to return the TriPorts for breaking many a time I rather the sturdy exceptional quality of these headphones for the price. I now only use the TriPorts when sitting in an armchair at home (kind of takes away the mobility of these things) because I am totally afraid of them breaking again and having to resend them in (I wish Bose would just give me a refund). I hope to someday save enough for a better pair like a Sennheiser or Grados, which I thought my Bose would be comparable to. For now, while my TriPorts are in the shop again, these things are irreplaceable. These things are so sturdy they can be stepped on accidentally without breaking too, which shows Sony isn't in it for instantaneous replacement which always makes me happy in technology. Even though these are exceptional, everything has a problem. The problem with eyewear (which I have previously seen mentioned), but is minimal for me since I normally use these on my 60gb iPod at bed time, walking the dog, or sitting on the couch, I find myself in almost a more concentrated place without thinking about other things as I did with my glasses on. If you are looking for better sound quality, or have glasses and you would like to use them while listening , I would recommend the really nice earbuds the Apple Store sells. The Bangs & Olfsun ear clips are also really nice. These run around 149.99 to 179.99. The JVCs that Apple also sells on there store which are the same form factor as these are also really nice, and don't push on you as much (physically, or on the piggy bank), but after around three hours of listening to an audio book you should still be ready to take a break with the JVCs. All in all, four stars to Sony, fix the eye glasses problem and you should have a five on me for the price you sell these at. As to the earring problem, and long hair, I have never seen a pair of headphones that are full form factor that wouldn't interfere.

cheap but good w/ specific disclaimer
...while i'm not going to make like george zimmer of the men's wearhouse & make any sort of guarantee about whether or not you will personally enjoy using these headphones if you happen to buy them, i will still none the less state that i don't think that you'll (most of you, at least) find them a waste of your money. these headphones are probably the second best pair soundwise that i've personally owned or used & they're a whole heck of a lot cheaper than the best pair, which probably ran near or just over $100 at the time (which was about a decade ago- i can't spell the make properly so i'm not going to foul things up for you that way).

some reviewers of this product have stated that the reproduction of mids & highs is poor with this item & that lows are overly emphasized; i beg to differ & certainly feel that the reproduction, while indeed boosting bass, is more than acceptable across the entire audible frequency range & that highs are still crisp. the 6 foot cord that these headphones have obviously restricts their use to an indoor setting (you aren't going to jog with them on); the fact that the cord is a little on the thick side is actually quite good, as the wires within are thus a little better protected & less likely to develop pulls or tears.

the only reason (here's the disclaimer) that i would not give these headphones- given the undeniable sound value that they are- 5 stars is the following: some reviewers have commented on the discomfort that those of us who wear earrings might experience; that being said, i wear a stud in 1 ear & it's not that which comes into play with discomfort, but my eyeglasses. frankly, i usually have to take them off if i'm using these headphones for any extended period of time. so, i take my glasses off when actually i'd like to leave them on & that being so i award no fifth star! well, enough babble ... wearers of eyewear be at least mildly aware- for all you other folks, definitely still cheap but good.

Quality headphones for a decent price
I wanted a pair of decent headphones for home use, so I purchased the MDR-V150 Sony stereo headphones at Best Buy for $20.99 (w/o tax). For the price, they are very good headphones. They have quite a bit of bass, which is something I prefer over the wimpy or non-existent bass in headphone "clips" or the sport headphones. The ear cups are very comfortable and cancel out some sound as well.The chord is a bit thick and definitely extra long, around 6 feet in length. But honestly that would be my only complaint if I had to complain about these headphones. Overall just a good pair of quality of headphones for home use.

Amazing
Paired with an Emerson HD8118 personal cd player, these are the most awesome headphones I have ever had. The only reason there is no fifth star is because there was a little too much bass in the sound (too much bass from 30mm little drivers? the second smallest driver size?) but not too much that it makes me complain. Sony will not let you down with this great but cheap pair of headphones. Buy, buy!

Great sound, not quite as great a fit
I've had these for about a year now, and for the price, they are a great set.They seal out external noise very well; with music playing even at moderate levels, I can't hear my coworkers talking in the cubes next to me.They're also very good for first person shooter games, I picked up on very slight noises that I ordinarily wouldn't hear on my other headphones.

The fit is definitely not universal, however.I don't have an overly large head but these cause discomfort after about an hour or so.They just squeeze too tight!I use them at work because I'm normally wearing contacts, but if I wear these with my glasses on they press my ears against the stems so hard it is far from comfortable.

For anyone with a small-medium head size, these are a great set of closed ear headphones for the price.

Great for Bassists
These are perfect for me.I use these for practicing my bass playing as well as for playback on recording applications.The bass is terific, but doesn't drown everything else out.They were a little tight to wear, but after a couple of days they fit perfectly.I find them to be very comfortable even after an hour or two.The cost isn't overwhelming for the overall sound quality.
the chord length is long so you won't have to buy an extension.
Overall these are perfect for what I need, and at the right price.

The headphones grow on you...
I migrated from an ultraportable over-ear RadioShack set of headphones which had great sound at the time compared to previous cheap sets of headphones I owned.Unfortunately, the cord was short and the end plug would lose a good connection.I checked these out and noticed reasonable reviews and a stress on the bass.I thought, "Why would that be a problem?Great way to drown out NYC subway noise and so on..."

Initially, I was rather unimpressed with sound quality (I thought there was really no difference from the older cheaper headphones) and it was quite uncomfortable as I was breaking them in.You see, I wear glasses and thus I'm very picky about comfort over my ears and it took 48+ hours for them to become comfortable.Now, I can wear them many hours a day without discomfort and it is getting better.

Yes, the bass is strong, but not overpowering.I've actually used an equalizer to boost the bass in when streaming online radio (Musicmatch and the like)!I've noticed quickly (a) how tinny my previous headphones bass was in comparison and (b) how crappy the quality of some of my MP3s actually is and (c) how having stronger bass helps me to discriminate between crappy music (mindless and simplistic) rhythm/beat and good music which has a more nuanced and complex beat.

So a quick lowdown: long cord is awesome!Bass is slightly emphasized (and crisp!) but mids/trebles are well pronounced.Comfort will grow on you.I definitely recommend it...

Excellent Buy!!
I was really skeptical about buying these headphones, because all the guys were writting how they have too much bass, (and for guys to say too much bass, well, it must be outta control!!)
Let me just say that these headphones, in fact, do "NOT" have too much bass, and rather they sound really nice. It is a very clean, crisp, and smooth sound, that is not overwhelming to the ears, but rather pleasant.
I just received mine today and have only listened to them for 10 minutes, but that was enough for me to write a review.
I highly reccomend these headphones!! And if these headphones seem to have too much bass for you, then there are probably many at Walmart that will take care of that problem for you!!

I bought these a couple months ago and i was pretty satisfied with the sound.They might not look as sweet as the pictures made them seem.The cables are extremely long, thin and annoying.It always end up being tangled or something like that.Mine actually ripped so the left right cup isnt working, but i am going throught the sennheiser service policy to get that replaced.I am now considering the sony mdr's priced around $100.If you are extremely serious about your music listening, maybe invest a little more then these sennheisers. ... Best noise-cancelling headphone in this price range
I owned the original NoiseBuster Extreme! model for many years.After much hard usage, they were beyond being held together by electrical tape anymore.That's OK, I got my money's worth out of them.

So I went looking for a new set.Before discovering this new Noisebuster model NB-FX, I tried the PlaneQuiet Latitude and NC-6 models.The Latitudes are priced at $20-$30 and are crap: sound quality is horrible, and noise cancellation abilities are limited.The NC-6, priced about the same as the Noisebuster NB-FX is better, but still lacking: sound quality is much muddier than the Noisebusters, and an audible hiss can be heard when the noise cancellation circuitry is on.

The NoiseBuster NB-FX isn't an audiophile headset, but it does produce reasonably clear sound, certainly clear enough for airplane travel and other noisy locations.I'm very happy with the bass, midrange, and treble response.The noise cancellation on this model does not have that audible hiss (even the old Noisebusters did), and does a fantastic job of cancelling out unwanted noise.

My only complaint is the comfort of this headset, but I usually have the same complaint about any set with a band of any kind.My favorite headphone style (for comfort) is earbuds, but I haven't found a set of earbuds acceptable for travel yet.

Great on a plane
This is the first set of head phones that I spent more then $20 on.I used cheaper ones on plane trips (DVD Player) and i had to press them into my ears in order to hear anything.After 1 trip with the NoiseBuster's I wonder how i ever lived without them.The noise canceling technology is a wonder, all i heard was the sound from the dvd player.Another great feature is the way they fold-up.Although it's not totally flat, it does fold down and fits into my laptop case quite easily.Well worth the purchase.

Smaller, lighter and cheaper than the Bose-but works as well
I have had a pair of the previous older model of the NoiseBuster for several years. I have traveled extensively (almost 2 million miles) on the airlines, many with the little airline supplied headsets delivering a poor sound, painfully. The NoiseBusterheadphone will make you incredulous that you are getting high quality sound from an airplane sound system! Who would have guessed it possible. I now use it with my iPod as well, on or off the airplane. The noise cancellation feature even improves the already high quality iPod sound.

I borrowed a friend's Bose headphones for two flights thinking they must be better than the far cheaper NoiseBuster, but they are not. The Bose does have ear cups that will completely cover your ears (well, most ears) for an 'isolation booth' type experience, but the sound is not better with the Bose, as far as I can tell. And the NoiseBuster is small enough to put into a briefcase or (if you carry one) a purse. The Bose is pretty big and needs to be in its own case. The NoiseBuster will fit into the pocket in the seatback in front of you.

If small size, high functionality, travel convienence and price are factors for you the NoiseBuster is the right choice.

Solid sound, solid value, extra long cord.
If you are an audiophile, go spend $150 on some overpriced headphones that sound 8% better (I recommend the Grado SR series).For the rest of us, these will do nicely.I have found them very comfortable for long music or gamingsessions.In fact, my housemate borrows my headphones whenever I am out of town because his Sony headphones (around the same price) are uncomfortable.You may have a funny shaped head, but most should find these pleasing to the ears in terms of sound and comfort.

The sound quality is very good.Not audiophile quality, but solid and clear.Very strong base response.If you are used to cheap headphones with no base, you may need a few hours to adjust.

"Mere mortals" should be very pleased.Those with golden ears, save your comments for the outrageously expensive stuff!

Last note:These things are larger than they appear in the photos.They are great for use at home, but they will look goofy if you wear them on the bus with your portable MP3 player!

The pinnicle of auranautical excellence
The absolute best headphones I've ever owned. The bass is incredible,like subwoofers in the ear. The midrange and high tones are perfectly reproduced. I first tried them with fable on the Xbox and you can hear things sneaking up behind you and it sounds like they are behind you.<br /> They fit really well and I can use them for hours on end with no discomfort. The main thing is they pound out bass like there's no tomarrow,gotta love German engineering.

Great Headphones
Tired of the stock iPod earbuds, I decided to get these headphones and I'm satisfied with the purchase.At first I was a little disappointed in the sound, but after giving it a "burn-in" period they have improved greatly.The sound is very clear and rich, I'm hearing parts of songs that were inaudible before and enjoying more bass.The only downside is that because they are open headphones they allow exterior sounds to seep in, making it hard to hear some songs in a loud area unless you raise the volume a bit which could damage your hearing.They're most ideal at home or a quiet area, but good enough to use on the go.

In terms of portability the cord is extremely long, but I keep it tied up and have not had any trouble.

Overall, they're great headphones, but be aware that open headphones allow sound to seep in.

Bang for the buck.
These headphones are very comfortable if you know how to adjust them correctly.People talking about muddy bass are right if you play it extremely loud.You dont want to do that.Music played in excess of 95 decibels can cause u to go deaf.The maximum of decibels on this is 114 so yeah these can make u deaf.So play music lower than 95 db if u wanna hear for the rest of your life.If you play music very low to moderate like me the bass is perfect.The belt clip that stores extra cord is very handy because i have a ipod that doesnt require much cord at all.

All bass all the time...
Pro: I really prefer the fabric covered ear pads. Very comfortable.

Con: The sound of these headphones is very disappointing.

The package says "Enhanced Bass" and the bass is definitely enhanced; to the point of being ridiculous. These provide indistinct, throbbing, muddy bass that makes you ears hurt after a short time. You can correct some of this with drastic EQ settings by why should you have to do that?

Other users say that a 12+ hour break-in period helps, but if anything, that made things worse.

I think this is an attempt by Sennheiser to satisfy the same people who thinkgood sound means rattling windows....quantity instead of quality.

Not bad!
I happened to place the order before reading all the negative feedback: so got worried after reading'em.
However, my experience so far (15 days) is positive:
Pros:
1) good build quality
2) auto on-off for the head phones
3) charging stops automatically (the green LED goes off)
4) decent Range: not exactly 150 ft, but 50 ft is what I would say, with walls in between. Beyond that, noise increased, but still it was ok.
[I am using with noise filtered turned off!]
5) good acoustics (compared to price)
Cons
1)Charging position (not a major one, IMHO)
2)proprietary batteries !
3)short cord to connect the base to audio source

Worthless
You basically can't tune in a clear signal, tons of background noise and sputtering.Worthless.An Xmas gift, so at least I didn't spend any money on them.

Not as bad as others say
Wife and I each received a pair of these for Christmas. We use them mostly for watching TV and movies at night when the little one is in bed. The tuning takes a bit of patience, but once I had them dialed in, they work great. The output from the TV is very high, and seems to help eliminate any static or interference. (There's a mention in the instructions about turning the volume on the source up high, I think this is missed by many users.)

I can walk around the house (even the basement) and listen to music or the TV with only an occasional crackle at the far end of the house. Battery life seems good, and the charging cradle is a great idea. It takes a bit of attention to make sure the headset "latches" onto the base properly, or it won't charge. Oddly enough they seem lighter than you would expect based on the size.Sound quality is quite good, considering there are no headphones I've ever heard of that produce bass you can FEEL.

I'm not sure why there are so many poor reviews of these units.. it may be intereference, or the output level, or possibly, Sony updated the design to improve reception and reduce noise.

As they say, they're bad.
All the negative reviews are correct. Why I did not check Amazon before I bought them in a shop I'll never know. I'm stuck with these headphones that are pretty much useless. For one they ruin the enjoyment of music because of all the static. You maybe sitting only a couple of feet away from the transmitter but turn your head this or that way and it's all over. I cannot get a good clean clear signal. I can't believe how bad the wireless technology is with this product. Forget walking about the house with these. I can't get a good signal when I'm sitting next to the transmitter! No matter at what volume I have the things set at it's just not acceptable to be hearing all pops, static and hiss.
Also if no audio signal is detected after a few minutes they'll turn off - when this happens you'll be blasted with a wall of loud static white noise. Not good.
As a side note it's a real fiddle to get the things back into the cradle and lined up so they'll charge. Yuck. Avoid at all costs.

I wanted headphones to use with my guitar amp. and home theater system at home.I was reluctant to try wireless systems because I had negative experiences before, but then I thought hey, wireless headphones have been around long enough to achieve the level of sophistication.
