1-0 out of 5 stars Does not work!!!
I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with NEC ND-3100 DVD+R recorder and it does not record on Memorex but does well on Verbatim .I dont recomend this midia.

1-0 out of 5 stars WARNING
I had no problems burning to these discs, its when I went back a few months later to these discs and found out that none of them work anymore. After further research I found out that Memorex uses the cheapest dye available and thus the DVDs have absolutelly no life to them, my discs started dying after a few months.
In addition, in you physically hold the disc in your hands you can feel how warped physically it has become. This is true for all the discs (about 150 of them). I CAN NOT NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT STRONLY ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars It is Moser Baer MBIPG101R04 8X +R
The quality is about the same as CMC Mag R03 8X +R, not worth 60 cents a piece.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good so far....
I'm on my third spindle of the Memorex 8x dvd+r. The first was a 25pk, second a 15pk and now I have a new 100pk spindle. So far only one coaster. I see a lot of reviewers mentioning the type of burner their using, I don't know if it matters but mine is an NEC 3450A that came with my Dell Dim. 2400. The discs play on my Sony dvd player with minimal read errors. I don't know if the errors I do expereience are from the discs or the player since it is almost 8 years old.

I probably wouldn't recommend these for professional use but for every day home movies, clips & data they should be fine. I'm new to dvd burning and these are the only ones I've used so far. When this spindle is finished I'll try some other brnads to get a feel for what works best. I guess that's the only way to tell.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad spindles
I've ordered Numerous Memorex DVDs before without a problem but these DVD+R - at least my spindles - have not burned well at all.I would say 80% are not recordable. I have used other DVD+Rs since so I know it's not a software/hardware issue. It's possible I just got a bad spindle...but thought you all should know in case it's a trend. ... Read more

By inserting a high capacity Flash Memory card directly into a camera, you can store hundreds of high-resolution images. When ready to output, simply pull the card out and transfer it to your desktop, portable or handheld computer for processing. Flash Memory cards fit standard Type II slots (with or without an adapter, depending on the type of flash card). Now you're ready to load all the captured images in seconds for viewing, manipulation, e-mailing or printing. No need to ever buy a roll of film again!

1-0 out of 5 stars John
I have the Canon Rebel.I had the same problem where files were corrupted. Also, when clearing the card, some pics stayed filed.I am not happy with this flashcard at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent card for the price
I bought this card for my Canon 20D digital slr and I've been very happy with it.

I got it on sale for $59 after rebates which was an awesome price in March, 2005.

While not the fastest card around, it's been rock solid. Never had a problem. The only time I notice the lack of speed is transferring it off my camera to my PC.

I use a firewire connection, and I can unload the entire card (1gb worth of photos) in 7 minutes.Yah, I could spend a lot more money to cut that time in half, but basically I go get a cup of tea while it's unloading. Most of the time, I'm unloading only a half full card so its a 3 minute wait.

I don't notice the difference in speed while the card is in my camera and I'm taking picture.I don't, however do a lot of 5 fps shooting, nor do I use RAW format much. When I'm shooting the best quality jpegs I never notice any write time to the card because it's all being buffered by my 20D.

I'm hoping Kingston gets a 2gb card happening, on sale, for under $100 and I buy one of those.

Kingston, most underrated buy in the compact flash world, as far as I'm concerned.

1-0 out of 5 stars Went bad after 4 months
What more can I say; the card received moderate use in a Canon 300D, and has developed areas where any pictures written there are corrupted. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning: Does not work with Olympus as Advertised
The description listed specifically says "Embedded Panorama feature for digital cameras with panoramic functionality."This is wrong. This card does not support Olympus camera panoramic features.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother ordering here.Item sent not as advertised-
Pictured is the Olympus-branded xD memory card. Right? Same is also pictured on the printed SanDisk insert. But, what you'll actually get is the Fuji-branded xD memory card which is cheaper because it is specifically NOT panoramic capable.

Item appears to have been switched by either Amazon or it's source and plastic re-sealed bu glue or heat.

Someone trying to "stick" Amazon with a swap?Possible.I sent a note to Customer Service to alert them of the error. They said "sorry" from India and would correct and resend. Guess what....I got another pack with the same erroneous Fuji memory card.

In my book, this is called "bait and switch" and I believe it's illegal in most States.Do I dare let Amazon "fix" this error again? What do you think?

1-0 out of 5 stars xD Picture Cards - EL STINKO
The mfgr's promo text says it's fast, but anyone who's ever done even an informal test knows it's dog-slow. In fact, xD is THE slowest-reading/writing media still developed. It's also one of the (if not THE) most expensive per MB, along with Sony's "Memory Stick" (now branching out into even more costly "Pro", "Secure" and "Select" subformats, hopefully helping to wake Sony-worshipers up (Sony is no longer king, folks; the 90's are LONG over. Keep an eye on Samsung - but that's another review - for the best these days).

xD's one benefit: It's small; almost TOO small, and really easy to lose, only coming in black. Fuji and Olympus are the ones to blame, clearly hoping to retain unwitting users who end up forced into xD's incompatibility and expense with one of both mfgrs' wide selection of xD-only digicams. Olympus briefly made cameras with both xD and SmartMedia compatibility, hoping the 128MB limit of SM would funnel users toward xD. Most of those users, to Olympus' dismay, chose five or six SmartMedia cards because they were cheap, and because they could at least be read by most (if not all) media readers, unlike xD, which even now very few readers bother to support.

Oddly enough, Secure Digital (SD) is almost as small, and is one of the FASTEST reading and writing formats in active development. Lots of cameras, MP3 players and other media devices use SD. What uses xD Picture Cards? Cameras. Fuji and Olympus cameras, to be exact. Nothing else of any real popularity. It's unfortunate, but there are a lot of consumer digicam owners who have been humped into a format that has no good reason to exist.

Advice: If you bought a digicam without extensive knowledge of formats as many have done, watch and wait for deep rebates before buying your xD card(s) and be sure to get an xD card branded by the same mfgr as your camera, as (at least with Olympus) any other manufacturer's xD card (even Fuji) won't allow the 'Panoramic' mode to be used. Believe it or not, the camera actually checks the card for the Olympus header information and makes 'Panoramic' mode unavailable if it's not there. Is there any legitimate reason for this? No. None whatsoever. If panoramic photos aren't important to you, at least you've got a few other choices. If underhanded mfgr tactics are unacceptable to you, remember this when you're shopping for your next digicam.

For that matter, when you're shopping for your next digicam, look for fast and cheap media support from mfgrs that attract customers with innovation, compatibility and performance instead of the ones who rope new users and then attempt to chain them up in the backyard using format-inertia. As an illustration of lack of faith in their own format, even Olympus and Fuji know better than to cripple their top-shelf Prosumer/SLR digicams with the all-around speed and price loser that is xD; Both companies' best cameras ALL use CompactFlash, the oldest, cheapest-per-MB, highest-capacity and most popular format. For best speed, compatibility and prices, make your next camera one that uses CompactFlash or SD (Secure Digital) cards. If you enjoy your xD camera (as I once did), take solace knowing that rebates are offered quite regularly. Watch out for them and take advantage!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rate the product, not the service or price!
The xD format is an excellent option for digital camera storage. Why? Speed/Size/Storage Capacity

The xD-Picture Card has one of the fastest read/write speeds on the market. Higher speeds can greatly enhance the user's experience with a product. For example, a photographer can take new pictures or view existing images more quickly with the xD-Picture Card media than with other, slower media formats.

The xD-Picture Card was designed to use minimal power. Users will benefit from the convenience and savings of longer battery life on a single charge.

Small size (about the size of a penny), means smaller devices with lots of storage (512MB available now and plans to go to 8GB!)

I like this format (I've used CF and SmartMedia) and appreciate new technology.

1-0 out of 5 stars Shipped wrong product & didn't refund shiping

3-0 out of 5 stars misprint
I think that it is supposed to say "21 minute" not "210 minute" in case anyone else was confused about that. And it should probably be changed.I just did three stars because I have no feelings about the product either way being that I did not buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Compact and convienient
I've been using these disks for all manner of uses for quite some time now...they're great for putting your resume and other info onto and bringing to job interviews, for example....and have yet to have come across any of the disk/data corruption issues mentioned.

1-0 out of 5 stars Shameful and Degrading
Let me start by correcting the name of the product. It is a 210 MB / 24 minute CD-R spindle.I went to Europe with my CD Mavica and this exact item.It is now a little over a month after my return, and several disks (containing our trip to London and a friend's wedding) no longer work in my computer or camera. It seems the data is degrading from the disks. Luckily, we gave copies of the wedding pictures to the bride, so we'll get those back.London, however is only captured in memory anymore.I should have known.Memorex. . .memory + ex."ex" comes from the Latin for "out of, from."You get the picture.Unless you took it with a memorex disk.

5-0 out of 5 stars De lo Mejor
Son Excelentes. Sobre todo por su tamaƱo. Lo unico malo es que les son dificiles de conseguir las cajas o los sobres.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fast card
I got one of these, and mine seems pretty fast too. I've had it for almost 6 months now, and it's still awesome.

5-0 out of 5 stars CF Ultra vs CF Standard
In the past I purchased a SanDisk Ultra CF card because I was told the speed was much faster then the standard CF cards. So, I paid the premium and got the Ultra card and it works great.

Recently, I needed to purchase another CF card and thought I would save some money and buy the EP Memory 512MB CF card. (...)

After receiving the card I immediately installed the card to see if I made a mistake. After using the CF card I could not see and difference in how either card worked. I am not saying that the Ultra is not faster, I am just saying, I could not tell.

If you are a novice like me with digital cameras, you really do not need to spend the extra money for a faster card. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Memorex black CD-Rs,the best out there!
These are the best CD-Rs on the market. However, there is something you should look out for.Whenn buying, look for ones that have a somewhat rough surface and a foam ring insert on the very top.Others will have a glossy surface and will have plastic ring inserts on the top. These glossy ones have a higher failure rate. I burn TONS of CDs, out of 100 rough ones,1 failed.Out of 50 glossy ones,11 failed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Worked fine for me, used them everywhere
The media worked fine for me, got a pack once as a gift and used them all.Between work, home, and laptop - burned them on cd-r's and dvd-r's and all worked. No idea why some reviews complain about "black" cds being bad.You can buy cd-r's in red, blue, orange, silver, and ones that look like old 45 records, etc...It's just the color, it's not some other format. So if you're having trouble, don't blame the color.Memorex is a good brand name for cd-rs or dvd-rs so ignore those talking about an issue with "color".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great media
I originally got these disks because I was having trouble with my car's cd player skipping with regular silver disks. I read on the internet that black disks can track better and sure enough, all burns have played perfectly. I have used 4 or 5 different drives (from cheap OEM drives to Plextor) and they all worked. These are the only disks I use for music cd's anymore.

3-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work in all players
While I still think these black CD-Rs are cute, they ended up being a pretty big disappointment because they don't seem to work in DVD-ROMs. I can't use them with my laptop at all unless I run them in my USB CD-RW drive, and after trying them in various other DVD-ROM drives I've just decided to give up on them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CDRs
I have used dozens of different brands and colors of CDR's, and the Memorex black ones are the ONLY ones that have NEVER given me any trouble.I have Memorex black cdrs in my car that have been there for 3 years. They've been through the hottest summers and the coldest winters. To this DAY they still play great. All other cdrs that i leave in my car get ruined by the heat. The black cdrs are not exactly the "nicest-looking" cdrs on the market, but they are SUPERB in terms of performance. If you have some valuable information or music that you want to keep forever, i strongly recommend the Memorex black CDR. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good Brand- Get A Bigger Card
Sandisk has been a very reliable brand for me.However 64 MB is not enough capacity for anything except a 1 megapixel camera. If your camera is above 2 MP, get a couple of 256MB CF cards. If you're at 4 MP or over, get a pair of 512MB cards.Don't put all your eggs in one basket with one huge card- if it goes bad while shooting, you're sunk.Lexar is also a very reliable brand of CF card.Don't worry about the write/read speed of the card- that's mostly a waste of time unless you're a pro photographer shooting with a $5000 camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Best
SanDisk is one of those companies that has never failed me.In my line of work, I sometimes put my camera and media cards to the test. Every SanDisk card I have ever used has been able to keep up with the demands I've place on them. They are some of the best products I have ever purchased, unlike a PNY card that broke after only one use!Regardless of what format you need, I highly recommend this and other SanDisk products. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Terrific sound but not for novices
It's small, requires no power cord, has no buttons, and has a 104dB s/n ratio and almost no harmonic distortion -- yes!The moment I installed this on my Dell Latitude D600, I could hear a marked improvement in bass clarity and overall imaging.

Now the drawbacks: The software is not so hot.You cannot adjust its output and there is no equalizer.Plus I had a huge driver issue and tech support had no idea how to solve it.I had to do three hours of serious technical detective work (Windows driver version numbers, service packs, system files, etc.) to fix it.(Turn out it was an issue was with XP's USB drivers... surprise!)

Furthermore, it cannot monitor its own line-in.Thus you cannot use the line-in jack to, say, play another audio source through your speakers.

Still, the simplicity of the device and its sound quality won me over.Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tranist USB small device, big results
The Transit USB helped me achieve the goal of getting digital pastrhough from my powerbook to reciever. The deivce does a great job of passing DTS and Dolby signals directly through the optical port. The tricky part is setting up the device, the manual is lacking in many areas. Also, rather than use the drivers that ship with the device download the newest one from M-audio.The driver that shipped with mine was over a year old, and did not fully support OS X 10.3.7.Also the manual fails to mention that the Transit USB device creates it own settings icon under OS X, rather than adjust the device through the "sound" or "audio MIDI" control panels, use the "transit" control panel.Overall the sound quality has been great, very crisp, no added static and the digital pass through has worked great.Just don't foget to change the Apple DVD player to "Digital output" from "system sound" to take advantage of the DTS and Dolby signals.Overall a great device to allow digital audio output from a Mac

3-0 out of 5 stars Driver problems
I bought this unit to replace a first generation Xitel unit. The main problem I am having with the M-Audio box is that if the iBook is restarted, the device driver does not show up. One has to unplug and plug in the USB cable to get it to show up. I should have bought the upgraded Xitel HiFi Pro unit instead (which comes with a full set of cables). This unit does not come with a fiber optic cable, the Xitel unit does, and is about the same price.

3-0 out of 5 stars Transit: Proceed with Caution
Bought an M-Audio Transit to replace a Griffin iMic, whose sound quality was not acceptable, on a Macintosh G4 titanium PowerBook 667 MHz (1 GB RAM, OS 9.2.2 and 10.3.4).

Transit hardware: Excellent. Meets its wonderful specs.
M-Audio Mac OS 9 driver software: Garbaggio. Totally non-functional and not very stable.
M-Audio Mac OS X driver software: Works for us, not for others.

The Mac OS 9 software is unusable junk: neither the input level controls nor level meters of most software will operate with the Transit, though the same software works fine with the (inferior, audio-wise) Griffin iMic, and Apple built-in hardware on other Mac models. Software which will not work with the Transit and its current drivers (we tried both 1.5.4 and 1.5.1) include: Coaster 1.1.3, Amadeus II 3.7.2, Sound Studio 2.0.7, and the OS 9.2.2 Sound control panel. All these are standard Sound Manager-compliant software packages that work stably and well with everything except the Transit. Only the output of the Transit seems to work under OS 9.

During the week of troubleshooting and emailing, M-Audio support recommended using software which supports ASIO drivers, avoiding the Apple Sound Manager. They recommended BIAS Peak LE. We tried the demo of Peak LE 3.2, which was so wildly unstable that we were unable to perform meaningful tests.

We had acceptable results with OSeX Panther 10.3.4, though other OSeX users have not (details on xlr8yourmac.com). Proceed with caution, and make sure you can return the Transit if you cannot make it workable on your system.

Wishing everyone trouble-free audio input and output,

))Sonic(( (and unnamed friend)

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Solution
Everyone who wants digital audio on his Macintosh is best served with this device. I tried a lot of solutions when I wrote an article about audio devices for DVD playback for Macworld Germany, and Transit is definitely the best of them, specially if someone wants to connect his Mac (PowerBook, iMac, everything with USB ports) with an amplifier that has optical digital input. I use transit now for month and so far had never problems on my Flatpanel iMac. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Quality discs with great colors
Memorex and other brands tend to be a bit less expensive, but I've found that the build quality of these Sony color minidiscs are better. And since they only are few cents more per disc, why not spend a little more for the quality? The colors allow you to color-code your collection, but you probably would have to buy these minidiscs in bulk for it to be worthwhile. I use these with my portable MD player which can record/transfer up to 6hrs of audio onto each minidisc. The included carrying case is handy and is small enough to fit in a coat pocket. My only complaint is that you probably wouldn't want to cover up these pretty little discs with the mundane labels Sony includes. There's a frosted finish on the face of these minidiscs so that you could write on it with a fine marker, but since many of the discs are dark, they would be hard to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Space... the final frontier
Well, I have many of these discs and they are very useful. The quality is perfect.

What makes them even better is that on some Sony mini disc players you can use long play recording modes to record for 160 or 320 minutes. My model is mzn 707 so I am sure all the newer models have this feature.

This is handy because if you record a lot you run out of space very quickly. If you record live material onto your computer you use tons of space (about 20 mb a minute), which is a problem.

Because the files are huge it is necessary to convert to mp3s. For this, I use Cool Edit 2000 available at www.syntrillium.com.

If you do record a lot may I recommend you also check out the new 1gb minidisc for newer model players.

With the new 1 gb 45 hour disc HI-MD mini disc it is now possible to get on one disc what I previously had to spread over 34 standard 80 minute discs. If I want, I can store about 900 songs, or 70 cd's, or save a whole year of voice lessons.

For $6.99 for 45 hours, this is $0.15 per hour compared to about $1.50 per disc for the standard 80 minute discs, so the value is incredible.

I highly recommend this. If you find this review helpful please click yes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sony is the best all around
Okfirst of all these mini disc are like game cube dics actualy a little smaller... but the are in a little floppy like diskette. I just had to clear that up becuase every where i went like best buy would tell me that they were just cds but their not. O well they still r awesome and id have to say that these sony dics are the best you can get. though i think the next time i need mini dics i think ill get the sony golds. SO no matter wut ever u like more the colors or the gold id have to say that sony is the way to go .

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product. Totally worth the money.
I bought these SONY Colour Collection blank mini-discs for using with my MZ-R55, and they are excellent. No sound distortion, and definitely no comparison with the Memorex discs. Nothing flimsy here. Only quality, and 5 pretty colours. I really like the charcoal tone one.
What's even better, is that I can put all the discs away in the storage case, and not worry about where they are individually, because they are always there together. If you didn't know already, the colours are: emerald, topaz yellow, charcoal, sapphire and ruby. Even though there are only 8 pieces, there are obviously not two of each colour. If I am right, most sets come with 2 ruby, 2 topaz yellow, 2 emerald, 1 sapphire and 1 charcoal.

Anyhow, these discs withstand a lot of shock, and are to me, shock-resistant. I like the individual little cases they come in too. Nice touch with the transparent white plastic.

Well, these discs are totally worth the money, especially being 80 minutes. I can get lots of songs on them, and they're great for recording entire albums from MP3s.

Great Buy! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It's faster yes, but is it worth the money?
I recently bought this item because I bought a Sony CyberShot DSCP73 Digital Camera not long ago and I couldn't capture high definition (640x480) videos with the normal Memory Stick (not PRO).So I decided to give it a try.I'm extremely happy with it.Lexar flash products are extremely reliable and fast (I have Lexar JumpDrives as well).

Lexar Memory Stick PRO is a little bit more expensive than others but it's because its speed. If you capture a video with a SanDisk Memory Stick PRO you'll see it's not smooth since the SanDisk is not that fast. Also you can notice it when you're transferring your videos and pictures to the computer, with Lexar media it's way faster than the SanDisk.

But SanDisk MemoryStick PRO media is way cheaper. If you're just gonna take pictures and not capture video with your digital camera, maybe you don't mind to wait a few more seconds in the transfer process. Also if you don't need speed you can find a 256 MB Lexar Memory Stick (not PRO) for about half the price of this one here in Amazon.

Keep in mind that if your device is not compatible with PRO media this Memory Stick WON'T work.I have read reviews of Memory Stick PRO media where people complain it is not compatible with their cameras.Read the manual of your camera first!

I gave it 4 stars because even if it's a really high quality products with absolutely no flaws, it's still kinda expensive for what it is.Lexar Memory Stick PRO media should be only few dollars more expensive than their cheap competitors, but not a dozen dollars more.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money
Sure its way way cheaper compared to other products but if you will calculate the success rate versus failure, this product will end up more expenssive than the brand names.Bottom line, you get what you paid for.

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware of Ritek from Amazon
Buy these disks from any other retailer, I have bought the same brand and type from other retailers and never had any COASTER.
First time I bought from Amazon and 25 coasters and increasing, tried with different burners, (Benq 1620 PRO, Nec 3520) and different speeds, problem is present only in Ritek sold by Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Work Flawlessly.
I've used about two hundred of these already and not one of them has failed. Ever disc burned perfectly and played perfectly. I used various software, Nero, Easy DVD creator,
DVD X Copy and Nero vision express. I have one of the cheapest DVD Burners on the market today. Burned at a full 4x took about 15 to 20 minutes. Defiantly worth the money.

2-0 out of 5 stars Flagging Quality
I've been buying RiData/Ritek media for several years now (many hundreds of discs) and, up until recently, have been quite happy and have had no problems with them. Now it seems that their product quality is slipping. The last two batches of these DVDs have had about 20-30% defective (visible spots on the disk). I'm moving on to a better brand.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ridata DVD+R 4x 100-Pack Spindle
This is the 3rd time I have ordered Ridata DVD+R 4x 100-Pack Spindle -- The 1st time from Amazon.I agree with the other customers, I feel these were repackaged and sold as new.Approximately 1/4 of my disk's had physical defects and were unusable.I will continue to use Ridata, but I will be more carefull where I am ordering them from. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars faulty chip
I dont know if it was a flaw with my card alone or what, but my 16mb xd card could hold up to 103 images on my 3.2MP camera, but when i put in the 64Mb it only had space for 76..... what a watse of money!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars How many pictures will it store?
How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about.Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Fujifilm 64MB XD Card, like most 64MB cards, will store on average 71 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 53 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera,32 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 25 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 20 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

5-0 out of 5 stars So far, so good.
I bought two 64MB XD picture cards, thinking I'd have one for backup if anything went wrong with one of them. I have yet to use the second one, and could probably have just gotten away with using the 16MB card that came with the camera as backup. Then again, if I did more travelling, it's like having two would be a smart move. I have no complaints about these XD cards.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great new format
I think these are great, I get a lot more battery life and they allow the camera to be much smaller...they may not be industry standard, but they were created by Olympus and Fuji, so even if they just become the standard in those two companies they'll stay around for quite some time.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not standard
Although the card itself is not bad technology, it is NOT the standard (which is compact flash, CF). If you ever upgrade to a better camera or another device that uses memory cards (MP3 players, or SLR camera, etc) then you'll lose your investment in these XD cards. Also, since they are proprietary and non standard they cost more per megabyte. I would never purchase a camera that uses non standard proprietary cards (like Sony, which uses their own "memory sticks" or Fuji and the XD cards). But if you already bought a camera which requires them, then you really have no choice. Standards are important with new technology (remember betamax vs. VHS) so that early adopters don't have equipment that becomes obsolete, or unduly pricey due to lack of competition.

If you have a choice, try to buy devices that use CF (compact flash) and protect your investment. Just my two cents. ... Read more
