3-0 out of 5 stars Optical is optical
Yeah, I don't get this obsession with Monster brand cable either. When I got my 5.1 set-up, I thought the only way to get 5.1 sound was to use an optical wire anyway.Well, on my system it was, as it had no RCA jacks for all those discrete channels. All it has is one optical jack and one set of L/R RCA jacks for a stereo VCR source.

So all I did was go to Wal Mart or Radio Shack (can't remember which) and bought the only optical cable they had for like 20 bucks.Works just fine.My problem if anything is my receiver. But I think I'll be upgrading sometime later this year.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fair enough
Alot of people say that Monster Cable is overrated.True, they are expensive.I use Monster Cable accessories because I know what kind of improvements to expect from them.Often times, the people here who have issues with Monster Cable, or any sort of a/v cable for that matter, often times do not have high performance a/v equipment. While I'm far from one of those theaterphiles who get paid to test new equipment in specific soundrooms, I do know enough to be able to distinguish what I (emphasis on I) sounds/looks better for my specific needs.Bottom line, Monster cables are a step up from the cables you'll receive with your equipment and will be more distinguishable if you have the right components.I use these digital cables because I have surround sound speakers and a Samsung receiver. If you're someone who does not have or plan on using surround sound, then you probably don't want to shell out money for this digital cable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Optical is the way to go
If you haven't spent a decent amount of money on your sound system, don't buy optical cable.I hear many people complain about how they can't tell the difference between RCA and optical, but when I see what they're using for a receiver and speakers, the problem is obvious. You're stereo system is only as good as its weakest link, and optical cable is intended for high-end stereo equipment. It's that simple. If you're balking at the price you're spending on optical cable, you probably haven't invested enough money into your stereo equipment for it to really make a difference.
That said, if you do decide to go optical, Monster is an easy choice.Although I'm sure they hike up the price a bit on name alone, they do make some of the best audio cable out there, optical or otherwise.I've noticed marked improvement in the sound quality from both my DVD and even MP3 player. If you want to take a chance with a less known brand for a cheaper price, good luck, but I'm willing to spend a little more for quality.

1-0 out of 5 stars Optical is optical
Monster could sell ice to Eskimos

I do agree that cables make a difference when electronis devices are involved, however a fibre optic cable will not make one iota of difference to the sound quality when compared to another - no questions, full stop.

An illustration of how some people will buy anything is the crazy guy who said his picture improved!

Enough said

1-0 out of 5 stars More Monster hype
"High velocity of propagation for lower time smear"

What does this mean? The light from the source to the destination over this 1 meter cable probably takes 4 to 5billionths of a second.I would like to know how this time affects anything sonically, as even golden ears who claim they can hear 100 kHz are talking about 10 millionths of a second cycle time.

Light's light - buy the cheapest optical you can find.If it works, it will sound just as good as this overpriced stuff. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Belkin A3L791-50-YLW 50FT 10/100BT RJ45M/RJ45M Cat5e Patch..
Well, all cat5 cables are pretty much the same.It serves my purpose and works fine.Best of all, it wasn't that expensive and the color doesn't look as bad as the picture.

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely NOT a phone cord
No, though this cord coils like one, it is not a phone cord. Aside from that minor drawback, this cord functions just fine. Though I wonder how you could rate an ethernet cord for any reason.......

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant cable - like all belkins - but "twisty"
Unlike my other belkins, for some reason this yellow 50 footer seems to want to twist up - like a phone cord liukes to twist up, but not quite so bad. Multiple attempts to untwist have been unsuccesful. Don't know why it's just the yellow one, none of my other belkin cables do this, but there ya go. Not a big problem, really, since it's not like a phone cord that just turns into a gigantic knot, and it'ss till usable and can still be strung along a wall, etc., but it's annoying, just the same.

5-0 out of 5 stars How do you Rate Wire??
How do you or why would you want to rate wire for a router?
Wire is wire!It is ok, but you expect it to work.
You know that you have nothing to do when you take the time to rate wire.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product for the price.
I have had this product for eight months and it has worked wonderfully for me. I decided to buy it along with an SMC router to establish an internet connection in my room. This was because my parents had opened a cable internet access account, and I wanted high-speed access in my room. The cable arrived in a plain plastic bag and I found it be of excellent quality. For example, because of the location of my room it was necessary to run the cable on the outside of the house. Well, after eight motnhs of exposure and whatever weird concoction the Lord decided to throw at it, (rain, wind, stupid sister who yanked at it) it has worked fine. The plugs on the end of the cable also felt secure and I feel that they will hold up for a long time. Also, the cable is yellow but it is not "too" yellow, it is noticeable but not garish. I recommend this product for anybody who wants to save money but does not want to sacrifice quality. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Its da bomb
Awesome product, Awesome price, excellent shipping. Product was delivered ahead of time. All around A++ for this seller

4-0 out of 5 stars USB?
This cable came with my Palm and it's great to have. However, my laptop has USB ports and I can't sync my Palm with my laptop, I have to go home and hook it up to my desktop computer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great backup for the hotsync cord and cradle
I bought this HotSync cable so that I could have one for my work PC and my home PC without having to duck down and remove the cord each time I left the office. I now synch up both places with ease. It works wonderfully, and I've not had any problems with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars HEARD OF USB, PALMSTER?
I received this last Christmas from a generous friend. As I began unwrapping the gift and almost immediately began to feel that I may have really received what I'd wished for.It was then exclaimed to me, after I had removed enough wrapping to see just what I'd wanted, "It's guaranteed to be totally USB compatible!" After I found NOTHING that looked even remotely like a USB connector in the box, it "rained" the rest of the morning with broken showers ALL EVENING LONG. My initial anticipation was appreciated but by the time everyone was absolutely impossible to HotSync the m100, my generous friend was angry to have made such a high ticket purchase (for a friend I think you'd agree). Palm, you ruined my Christmas 2000 with your short sitedness and the untrained sales reps in places selling your product. The thing completely shut down a few months later, just when my scripting ability had become nearly second nature. I'd give it ZERO stars if the option were available. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not good.
There are only a few games that suck, and this game is one of them. This game is not interesting and it gets very boring after a while. If you just read this review listen to my advice.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too confusing
The game seemed interesting when I bought it. It was really confusing when I started playing it. That was probably why the game was only $20 used. Folks, it is not a good game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Your Eyes Will Water
First off, my favorite racing game of all time is the original wave race on the n64.I enjoy race games that allow you to quickly enter the action but become more difficult as you level increases.

Quantum Redshift is such a game! The beginning levels are very easy to beat.In fact, it lets you decide if you want to start on level 1 or 2 before you even win a race.As you win, you unlock more tracks, racers, and power-ups for you racer.

I have had this game now for about three months and I still haven't beat the highest level (admittedly, I haven't been playing the game as much as the average xbox owner).

This game is an awesome racing title to add to your collection.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
I rented this, and am really glad I didn't pay $ for it!!!!Although the game is kind of fun, in a Star Wars Pod Racer ...-... sort of way, I think it is ridiculous that you have to come in FIRST in every race to advance. That makes the gameplay especially frustrating because on some levels, if you ever fall out of first, you can never regain the lead. Also, the whole "nemesis" feature is stupid, although I guess it makes the game more challenging.
I guess the only really redeeming thing is that the graphics are good and the sense of speed is accurately conveyed.Otherwise, I can't think of a single reason to spend money on this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Totally SWEET
Quantum Redshift is absolutely the BEST game i have ever played. I just recently purchased an xbox and was looking for a balls out, full action racing game, well this is defintley it! You pilot hovercraft that race in excess of 300mph. Every racer has a rival that they attempt to blow up. Each racer also has their own home track and special weapons with which to inflict damage on the other racers.I would recommend this for every speed junkie teenager out there! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Yup - bad ghosting with this low-quality cable
Hey - my first review!Go me.Anyway, I bought this cable for about $10 at Staples today, after blowing off one at Radio Shack for $25.This was to extend the reach of a new 19" Dell LCD (analog).I get horrible ghosting and some twitchy text.I tested the monitor (with a normal cable) on my laptop, and it looks great - I tested it again on the laptop with this extension cable in between, and the ghosting came back. I guess you get what you pay for - the Radio Shack one (I forget the brand, but it wasn't the house brand - maybe 3M?) was super thick.I think I'll just order a high-quality 10' male-male cable with the shielding the other poster referred to.Sorry Belkin, this one's a dud.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOTE: Will only work on monitors smaller than 17 inches.
Ghosting was unbearable on my 17" monitor when plugged into this extension. Did a little research and found the product information for this F2N025-06 cable on the Belkin Website. The last bullet item states: "NOTE: Will only work on monitors smaller than 17 inches."

Sure wish I had seen this information on the Belkin site before I wasted my time and money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Quality - Ghosting Images
This review is for the Belkin F2N025 6 Ft PC Monitor Extension cable.I start off saying this because if you read many of the other reviews listed here...you will see that the reviewers are talking about other types of extension cables, like for their printer or keyboard. Those cables are very different, and serve a much less demanding purpose.

Video cables are very sensitive to RFI interference.Just look at the cable that came with your monitor; it's very thick (at least twice as thick as this Belkin model)) and it has one or two ferrite clamps (those round large objects near the end of the cable.

This monitor extension cable is not a good one.It causes ghosting of images on the monitor and fuzzy text.I imagine this is because the cable is very thin and not shielded. Also the cable may be in need of an additional ferrite core to go around one end of it. That is the way most cables are assembled which come directly with new monitors. This ferrite core serves to block out RFI interference just as shielding on a cable does. They both work in different ways and are synergistic in their effect on interference.

I tried this cable on three different monitors in different locations and each time the text was ghosting and fuzzy. BTW, when I hooked those monitors directly to the same video cards (without the extension cable)the images and text were again clear and sharp. This cable just isn't very well designed.

...

1-0 out of 5 stars Garbage!
Fuzzy video and ghosting when used at 1280x1024 pixels, 85hz refresh rate.Slightly better but still unacceptable at 70hz.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty decent
Certainly does the job - they're not as durable as I might like, but if you're assembling a server rack or otherwise in need of a number of monitorextension cables, you could do worse than this. I bought five and I'm happywith them - you're not paying for the Monster Cable kind of durability. Ihaven't seen any ghosting or other problems, even in a fairly crowdedserver rack, although I can understand why the other reviewer would findthat to be a problem! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars IOGEAR KVM plus MSFT ONE NOTE - A rocking combo !!!
First, the device is flawless. It is a solid little piece of work that looks like I could throw it at the wall several times and it would still operate. I'm not going to do that-- it just looks and feels that solid.
What jazzed me up enough to write a review was a real world application - One Note from Microsoft. I am lucky enough to have it on the 3 computers that I use (SBS Server, desktop, laptop). One Note has a sharing feature that allows me to seamlessly move text, images, audio, and video between computers. For a long time I had messed with CLIPBOOK and other virtual clipboard managers but none worked as expected or advertised. I had given up the dream when it occurred to me that One Note had a collaborative aspect to it.
For anyone who's running a KVM like the GCS614A - One Note takes switching to a new level. It was great to network my machines with SBS and D-LINK hardware. It was great to recover the real estate on my desk hogged by all those monitors, keyboards, and mice with IOGEAR. But it is really great now that everyting comes together with One Note.

3-0 out of 5 stars Limited support for audio
This is the second KVM switch I've owned.I was excited to have audio support. However, upon setup I found that audio response was very poor ~ next to no response from my subwoofer, and all low-end sound seemed to be filtered out.I emailed IOGEAR's support department and received the following response:
------------
Greetings,

Thank you for contacting us.

Subwoolfers are not supported by this KVM. It will only support a powered two speaker setup. We are changing the packaging to reflect this.

I apologize for any inconvenience.
------------

...very disappointing, as this not-so-minor detail is not mentioned anywhere on IOGEAR's website, not in the product brochure.

Aside from this drawback, the switch works as you'd expect. One minor gripe I have is that the hotkey sequence 'ctrl-alt-shift-#', where '#' corresponds to the computer you'd like to access, is kind of a pain.My previous KVM switch used a double-tap of the scroll lock key...which became second nature after using it for a while.I'm not sure why such a long hotkey combination is necessary.Granted, this is only a minor drawback. On the possitive side, setup was a no-brainer, and my Logitech wireless keyboards works perfectly (despite IOGEAR's warning that wireless keyboard and mice aren't fully supported).

Bottom line?If audio is important to you and you have more than two speakers, you'll definitely want to consider other options. If audio's not important, you may still be able to find a cheaper 4-port KVM swich which does not have audio integration. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful sound !
These cables are excelent. They reproduce bass, middle and highs very clearly and in a soft way. They sound very good and natural. I think the guys who had problems should had checked their equipments, room accoustic and speakers before review this product.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good sounding cable, but cheaply made connectors
I've had this cable for about 6 months. It made an immediate difference to my system. It sounds clear, transparent, smooth. Also, I like the directional indicators on the cable which help in installation.

My only gripe is that the connectors are cheaply made. When one of the "grab" pins broke off, I realized the connector is not all metal construction (like you would expect for the price). The pin was made of plastic - quite a disappointment.I hoped for better at this price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Cables
I bought these for my dvd player. They work wonderfully! The old analog cables that came with the dvd player looked alright but [didn't measure up}.These monster cables definately enhance the sound of my dvd movies, especially the dialogue. The old cables that I had made my movies sound a bit muffled. But the monster cables intensified the clarity from the dvd player to my reciever. For those of us who cannot afford 5 speaker digital surround sound, I would definately recommend these cables if you use regular 2 channel stereo for your movies or CDs.

5-0 out of 5 stars I don't hear a difference but these things are well built!
My system always sounded great and used to use RadioShack's gold cable's.I got these cause they were here on amazon where I bought my new dvd player. These cables are a lot more hefty than anything i've ever seen.I didn't compare quality to any other cables so I don't know about sound quality but it does sound good.If you're like me you probably want to spend more time infront of the tv than behind it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Total scam. Do not buy these cables.
Wow, I'm a little surprised here. Several months ago I wrote a detailed review comparing the 400mkII's to MIT Terminator 3's, and another pair of Monster interconnects.I basically said that the 400mkII's severaly degraded the sound quality of my system - the bass and lower midrange became boomy, bloated, and lacked detail. (Note: if you don't believe that cables can sound different, just try a couple of different pairs . . you WILL be surprised.)I was extremely disappointed with this product, and I made this known in my review.

About a week after I posted my review, I checked this page and saw that my review had indeed been posted. Now, I came back to see how other people may have responded to my review ..only to find that my review is completely gone!Ok, now I know how Monster manages to consistently get 4 1/2 - 5 stars on all of it's cables here at Amazon - they just delete the bad reviews. Or at least that's the only logical conclusion I can see here.

If you don't believe my critique of the 400mkII's - just go search out a good consumer review site ...Monster is consistently reamed by critical listeners.

Ok, my rant is over. But you owe it to yourself to try out other cables. Some of Monster's other cables sound great . .but the 400mkII's will hurt the sound of you system. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars why pay so much?
Here's a little lesson in understanding optical digital cables from "The complete guide to high end audio" (p. 244-5) "Toslink is the low-cost optical interface promoted by mass-market audio manufacturers as an alternative to coaxial connection...the major electronics companies had two good reasons for trying to convert the world to toslink.First, toslink jacks and cables are cheaper than coaxial jacks and cables.Second, toslink conncetion makes it easier for the compoonents to meet FCC requirements for radiated noise. An electrical signal traveling down copper (such as a coax connection) throws off RF (radio frequency) noise that could interfere with radio and television transmission. The FCC will simply ban products that don't meet its criteria for radiated noise.Because toslink sends the signal as light down a plastic fiber, it produces no radiated noise. toslink (opical) is by far the worst interface, both mechanically (the physical connection between cable and jack),electrically (it has the lowest bandwidth), and sonically.Toslink conncetion tends to blur the separation between individual instrument images, adds a layer of grunge over instrumental textures, softens the bass, and doesn't have the same sense of black silence between notes."

Now, the only reason why you would want to get these cables is because you know that factory provided toslink cable is low-quality that is prone to damage (bending and wearing out)and eventualy you will have to replace the cable. You may want these monster cables because they will last a while, and not because they sound better. I gave three stars because I think they are costly and I am not sure they'll actually last 4 times longer than regular cables.

5-0 out of 5 stars 100to 200
I used the Lightspeed 100 for about a year. Today I got the lightspeed 200 and what a great improvement it has made. The DTS sound on my DVD has improved alot and that is just by my ear. I also added a HT700 clean poweroutlet to my whole system. My entertainment center is about 11 grand andall I can say is it is now better than ever. Thanks to Monster cable . allmy hook ups are also monstercable. ... Read more
