WARNING: SPYWARE
"System Requirements: Internet Access" The included software is spyware / 30 day shareware even though you paid for it. Very irritating multi pop-up messages that demand access to the internet. They are time consuming to dismiss.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS XP
This software says it's supports Windows XP but it does not. Voyetra does not have good customer service. This is what Voyetra had to say about this package:

"The USB Music Studio Kit is compatible with Windows XP. The drivers just aren't XP certified, but that doesn't mean they don't work.

They do work of course, otherwise how could we sell it?"

If you are on XP it will give you a warning that it is not XP certified and it may damage your system.

If you have $50 to gamble on this package then go for it.

Setup is a challenge, but performance is awesome
I have finally connected my Yamaha PSR-225GM keyboard to my Toshiba XP laptop and now I am recording music directly from the keyboard into MIDI format.The software takes a while to get used to and there are some places where it might have been more user-friendly, but it is powerful and easy to use once you understand it.I like how you can select and move notes, change the length of the notes, change the musical instrument, and print out music.The music recording captured dynamics.

Getting things to work took a lot of time.I spent a few hours and was about to give up.I am still not sure which of the things I tried made the recording to work.I ended up using the Edirol UM-1SX (purchased separately) instead of the USB MIDI cable that came with the studio kit.I configured the keyboard MIDI settings to channel 1 and made sure the MIDI would be sent out.I uninstalled and reinstalled the application.Then tried recording and voila it worked!Used EDIROL as MIDI input and Microsoft MIDI Mapper as MIDI output.

Good value! Software registration needs Internet connection
I bought it because I neded USB to MIDI adapter cable to use my older Windows 2000 laptop with my MIDI keyboard. MIDI worked as soon as I installed the software from CD. The only thing I do not like is the registration with included Voyetra Record Producer software, it forces registration throught Internet to be able to use the software or it goes in 30 days demo mode.

Didn't work on my Windows XP system
I'd like to be able to say more about this product but I've
been unable to get the included MIDI cable working with my
Toshiba XP system.I've exchanged about 10 emails with their
support person, but so far still no luck.He insists that they

MagixPhotostory vs Ulead's DVD Pictureshow 2
This is great software for a super low price. I purchased Ulead first for around $50 but I no longer use it. Magix has better transitions & the playback is smoother. It is also user friendly. The BEST Professional Audio Editing Package Ever
I have spent considerable time working with audio editors on MacOS and Windows. Or I should say, I would have, had I been able to find anything comparable to Sound Forge.

Sound Forge is only available on Windows, but I recommend it to MacOS users who are willing to use whatever tool is best suited to their needs. Sound Forge will spoil you, I promise.

I had heard all about BIAS Peak being the best audio editor available, so I, a Sound Forge user, tried it out. No how, no way. If you're using BIAS Peak, I urge you to investigate Sound Forge. Spend enough time with it to get used to it and you will never want to go back.

Sound Forge has a fantastic user interface. It does not try to dazzle with eye candy though its appearances are pleasent and well thought out. Because of that, it is lightning fast, efficient, easy and logical. The on-line help is complete, well laid out, and linked to most of the areas of the software where you might want to call it up for context-sensitive help (another thing that makes me completely disdainful of BIAS Peak). The waveform displays and zooms are lightning quick and clear and easy to work with. What you see is what you get. No eye candy to dress it up.

This software has all the features you need and none of the crap you don't. It works on almost any PC (no need for super fast machines to crunch eye candy). Supports plug-ins for addon effects. One of the included effects is a form of convolution reverb (using sampled impulses to create new environmental reverbs or special effects) and it is worth the price of admission alone!

Thsi program is very easy to use and is all I need to make my songs.

Excellent product for a great price!
This is a great program and is well worth the money. I've written many original compositions with this software with no problems. I use the program to write and print my arraignments at church and it's more than paid for itself. Anyone who has the need for an easy to use and stable notation program should buy this program!

Fun with Play Music
I really like this program. I am going to keep writing and printing my songs to be a real composer someday. I play my keyboard with this program and its like a recording studio. Thanks for all of the FUN.

Bugs among the notes!
This is an easy to use program, but watch out for the bugs. The most serious problem is that if you save a score as a MIDI file, all the repeat & end signs that you may have put in the score disappear. There is another peculiar problem with the program: if you cut & paste notes, chords or dynamic signs too often, they either stop playing or keep playing at places on the score where you removed them from. The "manual" tells you to keep clicking on a little brush symbol to redraw the score, but that doesn't always solve the problem. One annoying feature of the program is that every time you play your score, the note palette closes. So, if you want to add a few notes, listen to the score & then add a few more notes, you have to keep opening the note palette. After a while this becomes tedious.

I suggest you spend your money on something better.

Fantastic
This has to be the easiest to use audio production program out on the market today. It is so simple to create tracks on the fly, and to edit them is a breeze. If you are wanting to use this program to play live then you can load premade tracks or even just build a track live.

You can do almost anything with this program, although it does take a little bit of getting use to, like all audio programs. I would highly recommend this program to people starting out in music production (this was the first program i used), and couple this with the Ableton Live 4 Power book, you will be able to create all most anything. I highly reccommend it to anyone wanting to make music.

Hands Down the BEST live audio software
Don't listen to the nay-sayers, Ableton's Live is a marvel of modern technology. It's innovative "elastic audio" engine can instantly and intelligently load loops and sounds in tempo. Live makes it easy to walk on stage with nothing more than a handfull of loops and compose music instantly...impovisationally. I started using Live about two years ago when a friend suggested it. At first I saw it as a DJ tool, but quickly realized the compositonal value it has. With the complete and intuitive MIDI implementation of Live4, it has edged it's way even closer to that coveted DAW abbreviation. When i make music on my computer, I use Live as the central program, it's THAT GOOD.

Anyone who would dismiss Live as anything but easy, powerful and intuitive is obviously an amatuer who doesn't realize genius when it's green and white logo pops up on thier screen.

Nice if its free
Whos mainly doing live recordings will be frustrated with this application. First it needs a lot of time yet to find out how to make a simple recording, because there are several steps to take. Maybe its a good application for DJs, I dont know because I am not into this, but as a simple recording program I would recommend Garageband - I do classic music ensemble recording with multitrack overdub and was always frustrated with the confusing interface of Ableton live. I just want to open a program and click on record, not first for each function study the manual. So I am much more happy with Garageband. If "Live" is freeware it would be acceptable, but for 300 Bucks I am awaiting something better! ... Read more

Cakewalk is no cakewalk!
I purchased Pyro Plus specifically to organize photos, create slideshows and have more control over music playlists. Unfortunately, the program is severely lacking in the image processing department. Cakewalk has failed to meet even the basic fundamentals in image processing with this program and their advertising would have you believe otherwise. Audio features are adequate but are lacking in more sophisticated features such as tempo/beat matching between mixed tracks. Again, contrary to advertising. I personally found technical support to be polite, yet unhelpful and evasive. Their advice was to spend another $100 to actually purchase the features that I had been duped into believing I was purchasing in the first place.Thanks, but no thanks! My advice is to carefully review the features you must have, (like I did), however do not purchase unless you can download a trial version! This way you will likely find software worth paying for. I hope this saves a few people 50 bucks!
