Product Description

Sony Electronicsâ latest professional DAT recorder, the PCMM1, combines consumer-friendly features with the added professional requirements of todayâs increasingly demanding DAT user. "For the past decade, digital audio tape has provided professional musicians and consumer alike with the ability to create studio-quality recording-in a studio, garage, or conference room," said Paul Foschino, marketing manager of professional audio products for Sony Electronicsâ Business and Professional Group. "With the PCMM1, now an even broader audience of professional users can take advantage of these same benefits." The PCMM1 allows for selectable ID6 (Serial Copy Management System) and features a recording margin indicator, which allows users to monitor peak levels during recording. The unitâs improved microphone circuitry uses the same microphone amplifier as Sonyâs SBM1 Super Bit Mapping adapter. The SBM1, a common accessory to many Sony professional DAT machines, features a built-in 20-bit converter for higher-quality recording and digital I/O capability for both optical and coaxial. With a compact mecha-deck that is 20% smaller and 25% lighter than its consumer cousin, the TCDD8, the PCMM1 allows for 3.5 hours of recording time through its supplied Ni-MH batteries. By using alkaline batteries, users can achieve 2.5 hours of recording time. ... Read more

Product Description

The D-15 started out as the replacement model for the former D-10, but as you can see from the extensive list of new features and functionality, the D-15 represents a new level of price/performance value in a timecode capable DAT recorder. If you are specifically cutting audio to picture-either short term or long range-a timecode capable recorder is a must. SMPTE timecode is the ubiquitous reference for all machines synchronized together in the performance of a joint task. What's more, video is both controlling and unforgiving. If all devices are not referenced to the same clock, sync will eventually drift into cacophony. To safeguard against this occurrence, if the incoming digital signal does not match the D-15's setting, the selected sampling frequency LED will blink, indicating an error condition. As another safety feature, OFFSET does not allow changes to be committed until after the SET key is pressed. In all standard operational modes, the D-15 is very user friendly. Dedicated controls provide easy access to key features. 5 toggle switches on the front panel select Local/Remote, GPI, Analog or Digital Input, Clock and Sample Rate. Standard DAT features like Start/Skip/Write/Erase/Renumber ID also have dedicated switches. Individual input level controls have center detents as well as trim controls for easy and precise level settings. The concentric Jog/Shuttle knob is also used for parameter settings... ... Read more
