Excellent for both analog and digital
I bought these monitors for my keyboards and computer setup. I've had computer problems and since this is a hobby/avocation, I confess I haven't used the equipment I have as much as I would like. However, I've used these speakers for digital out from the computer and analog out from the synth, keyboard, and iPod. With the iPod and these speakers, there's no need for stereo system; you have it all here.

The speakers/monitors seem rugged enough that you can knock them around a bit, but I tend to take care of my equipment so that isn't an issue for me. I guess the only real drawback for some would be that they aren't all black.

You can't beat the price, as the next step up monitors sell for over $300. Keep in mind that to use these for digital stuff, you will need digital cables -- the ordinary cables won't do digital. The ones I have are orange -- don't know if that's the color scheme for those, or just the ones I got from Radio Shack are that way. Remember also that even though an iPod/MP3 player or CD Player are playing digital files, they output in analog. Most keyboards and synths do the same, but many of the newer ones have a digital out that you can hook directly into these monitors. Of course, the computer will have digital out options, depending on your hardware -- sound card and spdf card. ... Read more
