4-0 out of 5 stars A rehearsal workhorse
This is an excellent, general purpose microphone at a reasonable price.I'm a classically trained vocalist, and I use the SM58 for rehearsal and "scratch" recordings. It delivers clear, true, and warm sound under all standard conditions and requires essentially no fine tuning or signal processing.I still prefer the crisp detail of a condenser microphone for formal demo recordings (my favorite is the Studio Projects C1), but it's hard to beat the simplicity and reliability of the SM58 for everyday use. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A Recommended Buy
After shopping around for about 4 days, I finally decided on this headset. Purchased for $... delivered to my door, I figured at that price I wouldn't be too upset if I weren't completely satisfied. My only goal for them was voice-over-internet, primarily for gaming.
Here are my thoughts after a couple weeks of use: For the money, a great purchase. The slimmer, behind the neck design is nice. They've been comfortable to wear for up to 8 hours of use. The microphone has provided very good pick up and clarity without transmitting a lot of background noise; and the headphones provide very nice clarity for both natural and comp-gen vocals with the volume levels, from min to max, seeming to span just the right range for my tastes.
If you're looking for great music reproduction, these aren't it. Again, the vocals are very clear, but the music lacks the richness and depth that my external speakers provide. In short, it's a bit flat. But, with a bit of tweaking with an equalizer, I'm perfectly content to listen to mp3's on these while I play.
The microphone swivel has a very solid feel to it, and stays exactly here you put it. The cord has plenty of length to it, but I don't think it would take a lot of excessive abuse before it would break at it's connection point to the earphones. Recommend puting a dab of glue on the foam mic cover to keep it in place.
I didn't give these 5 stars because they didn't WOW! me; but for the price, a highly recommended buy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy these, and avoid Labtec headsets period.
My first Labtec headset, purchased last summer, were normal-style headphones with swiveling speakers and a boom mic. They worked vey nicely...for a while.Eventually, the sound went out in the right ear.Soon after, the left ear went out too, and the microphone stopped working. They were useless.I wrapped my headphone cord up when not in use, and I think this is what caused it.Shows you how well-made Labtec headsets are.

I saw this headset in a store circular, mislabeled as a Logitech product.I was sorely disappointed to find out they were not (I had the product purchased by someone else, as I was unable to get to the store in question at the time.)They worked very well at first, and I was quite happy.Within two days, I noticed that the right earpiece would lose and gain volume, sometimes completely ceasing to function. This continues to this day, and it is difficult to adjust the volume correctly (touching the on-cord volume knob is a definite no-no, as this will ruin the sound quality in both speakers.)Also, it should be noted that the headband does not adjust, so if you're like me and would like to lie back and listen to some music, you'll find that the headband prevents such relaxation.

Long story short: Avoid this headset, avoid all Labtec headsets.Spend the extra [money] and get a headset of higher quality, like a Sony (which is what I plan to do in a few months when these die like I know they will.)

1-0 out of 5 stars These things are not that great.
I bought these things and returned them the next day.The sound quality although decent, is not as good as Labtec Axis-502 headphones, which are also half the price. My biggest problem with these things was how uncomfortable they were.the over the ears part is not padded and has a groove where the line that goes to the other side is located. This groove causes discomfort almost imediately.I suggest looking into other headsets.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good performance / price
Works well and nice design.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fell apart
I bought this and thought it an excellent buy.The behind the ear design was great.Until the cord simply fell apart. It broke off at the place where the headphone and microphone cords split off.So...I bought another, thinking it a fluke. And presto, same thing happened. That is some bad quality right there. ... Amazon.com Product Description

This Prosumer-model microphone is for advanced amateur and professional use, and is ideal for instrumental recording, thanks to Sony's sensitive Electret condenser microphone. The one-point stereo design--a single mic for stereo recording--is like having two microphones in one. This mic is ideal for portable DAT or MD digital recorders, with frequency response up to 18,000 Hz and a dynamic range of 90 dB, and is a great complement to digital recording systems. The mid/side capsules create a natural stereo panorama. The midcapsule picks up monophonic sound while the side capsule picks up left/right-difference sound. Subtracting and adding the two capsule signals yields separate left and right channels, and permits electronic adjustment of the pickup angle. The mid/side switch also selects the pickup angle between the left and right channels. Choose 90 degrees for a single voice or instrument or 120 degrees to pick up many voices and instruments arranged across the stage. The rotating midcapsule adjusts the stereo pickup pattern for the widest range of recording situations. A Cannon XLR connector from the microphone body to the supplied cable provides a secure, reliable, low-noise connection, while the oxygen-free copper Litz cord ensures superlative conductivity, minimum loss, and minimum noise. The L-shaped stereo miniplug fits most portable recorders. Supplied accessories include a detachable cable, stand, holder, windscreen, and carrying case. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great mike, but hypersensitive
I bought this mike for use with my minidisc recorders, mainly to record choral concerts at church and in other places. It has a nice stereo directionality and separation choices, but I advise you to watch your record levels or mike sensitivity setting because the sound levels tended to overloadon loud passages or with percussive music like piano when used with my recorder's default (high) mike sensitivity setting.
It's very solid and well made. I'd rather have a boxed carrying case instead of the soft pouch provided, but that's a quibble. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars broke in 2 weeks
i bought these, hoping to use them while working out.the sound quality was great, they were nice and lightweight, but within 2 lousy weeks one side went staticky and then stopped altogether.i do not recommend these for anything other than gentle use.wish i'd read some of the other comments before i got them!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great sound/convenience; back for more despite wire problems
I've tried many headphones and still find these have the best sound.I use them while on the treadmill; this is the only style that stays comfortably inside my ears, delivering awesome sound.I find that the ear-bud style falls out, while headphones that sit on top of your ears are too far from the eardrum, diluting the sound. These go inside, and stay inside. No other style gives a comparable sound.BUT......as other reviewers note, the wires are cheaply made and disconnect/break with time.I've gone through two pairs in about two years.Like another reviewer, however, I feel that I get $15 of value out of them and have decided to replace them when they break. This will be my third and fourth pair (I'm actually ordering two, one for the future).I'm not pleased about the ongoing cost, but I can't find any other that work nearly as well. LAST THOUGHT......I'm going to try using electrical tape with my next pair to see if I can secure the leads, minimize their being torqued, and get them to last longer.I'm also going to make an effort to be sure I keep them from getting bent, twisted or pulled.

3-0 out of 5 stars Didn't last long
Great sound quality, but one side stopped working after about 4 weeks.

1-0 out of 5 stars please heed the warnings about the cheap wires
I didn't and paid the price.. I assumed the others handled their headphones too roughly thus they were experiencing broken cords. So I bought it, and suffered the same outcome. The cords are VERY cheap. They aren't flexible steel wires, they are cheap copper wires that after a frequent bending, they will break!

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT, IT SUCKS.While the headphones are very light and are decent sounding (not as great as one of the reviewers stated it was), the the wiring is very poor. They will DEFINITELY break at some point of regular use. And you won't be able to fix it.I tried to replace the wiring with better ones and basically broke the headphones in the process. There's no way to pop out the drivers, they're sealed permanently.

The wiring is so cheap you'll notice if you bend it in any way, it stays that way (cheap copper). This proved it was very maleable and susceptible to breakage after frequent (but normal) flexing.

Again, don't buy these speakers, you're better of spending it towards a different set that has better wires.

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific sound quality
I have yet to find another set of headphones that have sound quality as good as these do.I use these for running, so I also like the snug fit.Very lightweight, so I don't even know they're there when running. Like some of the other reviewers, mine quit working in one of the ears - after 16 months of steady use.For only $15 bucks, I felt like I got my money's worth, which is why I'm buying another pair. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good Sound But not Comfy..
These head phones sound good but are not very comfy to wear. Specially *not* for people with glasses.

3-0 out of 5 stars Weird little earphones
I guess I just prefer the headphones that stick in your ear.I had the aiwa swoops that do that and loved them. They broke and I thought I'd try these.I guess I might have to get used to them yet, but do you see the little plastic arcs above the actual earphones? You're supposed to (I think) put that on your ear like glasses, but my ear is pinched uncomfortably between that and the headphone.Maybe I have oddly shaped ears. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Alright.
I got these for one use...Gaming.When I got them, they were great! The sound was clear, consistant, and the microphone was amazingly CLEAR!The only gruge I have against them is that it broke about a month after I purchased them.Other than that, I'd recommend them to anyone with intrests in gaming or any kind of entertainment.

2-0 out of 5 stars Works great, when it does work
When I needed a headset, I got this one for the Labtec name and the price. After 2 WEEKS the headphones stopped working, and now the microphone is dead. My first email to Labtec went unanswered, hopefully my latest one will be answered. Nonetheless, when the headset worked, it had great audio quality, and didn't make my ears sore.

2-0 out of 5 stars Labtec, this microphone needs to go back to the lab
I purchased this microphone because I wanted a hands-free microphone to use with Yahoo Messenger. Since this headset is one of the cheapest on the market, I thought I would give it a try. I like that you can easily adjust the microphone closer to your mouth for better voice recognition. It also picks up your voice as good as you would want for talking with another person. However, trying to use the headphones and microphone at the same time did not work for me. The microphone worked great, but it was very difficult to hear the other person in the headphones. I tried adjusting the volume on my system (I use Windows XP), but no luck.

I think the worst complaint I have with this headset is that it isn't one that will last a good amount of time. I used this headset for about a year when the microphone died on me. I think it may have had something to do with the fact that I was wrapping the cord, but still! I also gave the same headset to my boyfriend, and the same happened to him. His microphone just stopped working.

Okay, so I did buy another one of these headsets, but in the same day the piece that holds the microphone broke when I tried to adjust it. So now I have to tape it in place to talk with it. This was enough of a sign to tell me that I will never buy another headset from Labtec!

5-0 out of 5 stars a good pruduct
I bought it from Walmart, only 16 bucks, but I really got a surprise.good vioce(according to this low price) and good microphone.glad to have it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent voice quality, don't spend more.
I can't imagine what more you would want from a headset. Voice is crystal clear, loud, and without background noise with these. We've tried sets that are literally ten times the price and the quality was in no way better. The headphone sound is adequate, there is a handy mic mute button on the cord, plus a volume control. But the main thing is how good the recorded voice is, and that is spectacular. We used these for professional multimedia creation, recorded and live streaming audio. And for the price, it's amazing. I don't know about USB sets or what advantages they might have. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Productfor both Professional & Non-Professional
The introduction in the owner's manual states it perfectly.Rode said that when looking for a good camcorder microphone, they were either horrible pieces of junk or super expensive professional models and so they decided to design a mic for this purpose. This model strikes a perfect balance. The quality of this mic is excellent. It is very sensitive and has good directional properties so it rejects noise to the side quite well.Although not meant for picking up sound from long distances it can do quite well from 20 feet away and maybe more.

The mount is attached to the mic so this is the only way you can use it and it is made to mount to the standard "shoe" that is on nearly all camcorders. It is a mono microphone but it has a stereo miniphone jack that plugs in the camcorder mic jack and feeds the audio into both channels. After trying several inferior microphones I was delighted to stumble upon this mic.It is a good value and an excellent microphone for camcorders. ...
