I was surprised when I received it because it is not expensive but looks very clean and well constructed.Without the padding, I would say it stands at 17 and 3/4 inches.With the padding, it might be more like 18 1/2 inches, not the 19 inches indicated.There's another more expensive bench that goes up to 23 inches so you might think about that if you're really tall because I find at 5 foot 8 inches, this bench is the right height.I prefer putting a very thin pillow on top though because cushioning is thin.It is lightweight and sturdy.The hinges are bolted on with 4 screws each. There's even vinyl/leather (not sure) on the bottom of the seat which is stapled all the way around.Overall, impeccable finish and soldering.I was not able to verify the weight capacity.I'm 160 pounds and could not find the manufacturer anywhere on the Internet.It's OK at my weight and could probably handle more.If you wanted to modify it to make it go higher or lower, you'd have to use a drill capable of going through steel that is a little thick.If you modify it to make it stand taller the legs would be so close together, you might tip over to the left or right.There are already two other holes to adjust it even lower.But if you do lower the seat, you might have to modify your keyboard stand.I have my Yamaha stand at the lowest height and the seat at the highest height.So, you'd have to drill holes on the Yamaha stand if you want to lower the bench.Still, it's very do-able and would be worth it if you have small children. ...
