Fine if you only want it for the short-term
Another online store had this clearanced for $9.99, so I bought it to play tapes at night for my infant.The bonus was that my 3-year-old discovered he loved singing along with the microphone (during the day, of course)!I thought it was handy that there was a separate volume control for the mic.Unfortunately, less than a year after purchasing this player, the "play" button on the top-loading cassette broke unexpectedly when I pushed it ... I guess it's not made to be pushed once a night.The concept on this is great, but the quality was not up to most electronics companies' standards.

My child loved it but however, the microphone broke after use of 3 days and I am unable to find a replacement microphone for the machine.

It's broken after 4 days!
I bought it as a gift for 4 children and they loved it.The sing-along tape wasn't used much.The children used it to create a talk show of their own.But the microphone broke after 4 days of energetic use.I suppose it would have lasted longer if the children had been more careful.But it was meant to be a toy and should have been built to take SOME abuse.

I bought this last year for my 8 year old daughter's Christmas present. She loves it and is constantly dancing and singing in her room to her favorite songs. Now I am looking to buy one for my younger daughter for her Christmas present this year.

BEWARE!! Turns From a Gem to JUNK!!
Machine worked fine for about the first 3 months. Didn't really use it that much during that time. After 3 months(coincidentally the same amount of time the worthless warranty covers) the machine began a process of self destruction, getting worse each time I tried to use it! The ONLY thing on it that now works is talking through the mike! I'm sure that will cease to work too. Basically a piece of junk. The maker must know this too or else they'd offer a REAL warranty! Buy ONLY if you enjoy THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY!!

Piece of Garbage
What a crock. My machine conked out a week after the 90 day warranty expired. To get it repaired I have to ship it to CA (I live in FL). The shipping charges and minimum cost of repair is more than I paid for the machine.

fine on other machines - am trying to sort this out right
now but from the rankings, it seems you either get a wonderful one that works perfectly or you get a lemon? High price

Poor warranty-not well made
I bought this machine new and sixty days later something happened to the microphone input (really loud feedback whenever you plug any microphones into the unit, I tried many different microphones but couldn't remedy this problem).This is where things got bad. I called the company and they said I would need the receipt to request repair work. I couldn't find it but I come across it 30 days later and now they refuse to repair the machine under warranty (I will have to pay $60, plus shipping both ways for service).Apparantly, the unit only has a paltry 90 day warranty.(With only a 90 warranty, even Singing Machine doesn't doesn't think much of the quality of their own units.)In any event, their service staff wasn't at all accomodating or helpful.BUYER BEWARE!!!! Find a better brand with a better warranty.

Singing Machine Piece Of Crap
I have bought 2 Karaoke machines from Singing Machine. The first machines CD player would pause in the middle of songs for no reason then eventually woulnt play a CD. I sent it back to the manufacture which cost alot of money to ship and 60.00 dollars to fix. They discontinued my model so they shipped me a newer model of mine. I thought this was great until a few months after I used it. The same thing happened. CD player skips in the middle of songs and pauses for no reason. Microphone Inputs wont work. Their a piece of junk. Please dont waste your money like I did. Playschool could make a better Karaoke Machine than Singing Machine. Ill never buy another one from them.

We loved our machine--for the first 2 months.Then it suddenly stopped playing songs, and in some cases failing to recognize discs.After sending it back for warranty replacement, the new machine lasted only 1 DAY!This time it wouldn't even recognize discs at all!If I bother to send it back I will have paid nearly as much in shipping as I did to buy the original machine.

We bought this for our 11 year old daughter for christmas.The microphone is real not some cheesy plastic thing but the unit itself is not well made.The two cassette player doors don't align just right and feel like they could break at any moment.The CD that came with it was scratched and had ... songs on it. The sound quality was fair but not worth the price. I am wondering if the STVG700 model with the monitor built in is any better?My husband and I debated over the SMG320 and the STVG700. I just can't help but wonder if we made the wrong choice or if both units are poor quality.

I absolulty love it because it is so easy to use. I use it as a cd player, tape player, I also like to sing on it with my friends and family. The sound is so clear I never hear any buzzing or funny noises. I learn so many songs on it all the time. The controls are so great because I can change the pitch to my range and the microphone volume to my comfort. Also the remote control is great to becasue it comes in so handy. We purchased one of these for christmas this year.We had it on lay-away for about 3 weeks.The box was not opened until Christmas Day.The CD player did not work.We can not find another one anywhere.The place where we purchased it from had it as a one time offer and will not get anymore.They couldn't replace it and the company won't fix it.This was just great since this was my son's BIG christmas gift this year.

If your a person who loves to sing then this is it. A Karaoke machine would be the best present. This Memorex karaoke machine is great. It has a cd player that plays graphics on your T.V. The graphics are the lyrics to the song on the cd. It has two cassette players. It comes with one microphone and a sample cd with four songs on it. There is even a handle on top so its easy to carry. Its very easy to connect to your T.V. On the karaoke machine you can have an echo or not have an echo. You can change the volume on it. You can record your voice onto a cassette also. There are also more things that you can do but I wont list them all. Its a great present for any singer!!

A good machine that's a lot of fun.The dual mike jacks are nice so more than one person can sing.The variable speed for the dual cassette deck allows you to adjust the music to fit your own voice range, though it does slow down or speed up the music a little.I recommend adding external speakers if you're using it in bigger rooms or for parties.Overall a good, dependable machine.
