    Editorial Review

Music stimulates the brain and encourages early learningskills. This interactive cube lets children choose from any combinationof five different instruments--harp, French horn, piano, flute, andviolin--to collaborate on eight Mozart tunes. A solo flute might playan excerpt from "Ah! Vous Dirai-je, Maman (Twinkle, Twinkle)," or aFrench horn intone a theme from The Marriage of Figaro. Otherchoices include "Country Dance #5," "Come Sweet May," "Der Vogelfanger"(from The Magic Flute), "March in D," "Landler," and "LàCi Darem la Mano" (from Don Giovanni). Press the "orchestra"button and hear all the instruments play together. As the songs play, each selected instrument button flashes to the beat. The sound is notorchestral quality, but you get a fair electronic approximation of eachinstrument. Operates on three AA batteries (not included). --TamiHoriuchi ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining for child
My son loves this toy...He loves music and this is a great toy for him he played w/ this one for hours... He loves to push the buttons over and over again and dances to the music...The problem is with this toy is it needs to be more durable for children 6 months or more...My son kept on dropping on the floor and now it sounds funny is needs a volume control it can be kinda of loud

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Toy
We received this toy as a gift when my son was about 2 weeks old. Even then he would accidently set it off with his little jerks and spasms (it is extremely sensitive)and he seemed to enjoy it.It is loud, but it never frightened him and he was brand new.By the time he was three months old he was purposefully setting it off and now he's almost two years old and he still loves it.He is more interested in the way he can make only certain instruments play and how the same song sounds different if a different instrument plays by itself. He recently cracked it though, but we have no idea how.(It is made of very durable construction, so I can't imagine what he must have done to it, but then he is very hard on his toys)We just noticed it broken in his room one day. But, after two years of daily play I'd say it gave our family a good run.I have a new son due in four months and I can't imagine not buying this toy again.I highly recommend this toy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Boring toy
My daughter got this for Christmas when she was about 6 mos old.She rarely ever plays with it.She was slightly amused with this toy for a month or two.She never plays with it now. When she did show interest in it, it only lasted a few moments. The music does get a little annoying because my daughter liked it when all instruments would play at the same time.Nothing special about this toy and it's loud.Would not recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous toy
My 6 month old is captivated by this toy. He loves to hear the music and it's easy enough for him to press the various sides. The music and the lights hold his attention. This actually belonged to his now 5 year old sister and it's held up well in the five years we've owned. I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT toy - 1 flaw
This is a great toy.My 7 month old daughter loves it and so do many of my musician friends. There is one significant flaw in its design; this is that the volume is not adjustable and it is too loud.If it were 1/2 this loud, I'd let me daughter play with it all the time.As it is, I usually limit her to playing with it with me, so I can hold it away from her head/ears.

Due to the too loud volume, I'm giving it a 4 star review, instead of 5.Otherwise, it is a great, great product. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars These picks rock!!!
Here is my poem called "These Picks Rock!!!"

    These picks rock
    And these picks roll
    These picks have funk
    These picks have soul

    I still have to buy
    A good guitar
    But me and my pick
    Can still go very far

    I wish I wasn't a
    Disappointment
    To my family
    But they say I have
    No feelings and no
    future, and when I
    stole all that money to
    support my "hobbies," I should
    have considered paying it back
    instead of giving my family
    the finger and telling them
that I wouldn't come to the
    family reunion if my life
    depended on it.Now that
    I need that transplant...looks
like my life does kinda depend
    on it.Oh well.

    These picks rule!
    These picks are cool.
    I don't mean to shock,
    But these...picks...rock!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value!
I'm using this tuner for a guitar with a pickup, so I don't have a need for the microphone, but I did verify that the microphone works. The tuner is very simple to use: Just play an open string, and it will automatically tell you how much off you are. It just works...

4-0 out of 5 stars Neat, Simple Tuner
I'm no expert on tuning, but I've been using this little tuner for my violin, and it seems to be excellent. It's easy to use, simple, gives understandable readings, and the microphone on it is very responsive.I would give it 5 stars, except for the case on it is a little poorly designed, and it's more difficult than it could be to change the batteries in it (though I've been using it for months and the batteries that came with it are still good), but this isn't much of a problem.Overall, it's a great, cheap tuner, if you prefer the kind that listens to you and gives you a reading -- which I think is the easiest kind to work with. ... Editorial Review

I have to admit that I am no fan of kids' electronic music makers--hearing the same bleeping and blatting tunes for hours on end is a sure-fire way to drive me crazy. But the Sing With Me Magic Cube has a number of charming features that set it above the fray. First of all, the 5-inch cube itself is a pleasing object, ruggedly constructed, with rounded rubber corners that invite the hands. Then there's the music: "Old McDonald," "Itsy Bitsy Spider," and other standard kids' songs played on five instruments (piano, guitar, drums, tuba, and flute). The innovation here is that as each tune plays, instruments can be added to or taken out of the mix with a push of the matching button. It's a clever trick that might help develop a child's ear for the different parts of music. One minor complaint is that the Orchestra button behaves differently from the instrument buttons: when you push it, the song that's playing stops and a new one starts. This is one of those toys that claims to be based on the latest brain research and promises to stimulate your child's mental development through music, but even if it's not much more than a glorified rattle, it will amuse your child without driving you too crazy. Requires three AA batteries (not included). --David Stoesz ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I'd like two more, please
My daughter got this toy for her 1st birthday.By her 2nd birthday, she had used it and dropped it so much that it finally gave out.Since then, I've kept the broken toy on the kitchen counter as a reminder for me to replace it.When my daughter points to it and asks for it, I have to remind her that it's broken.I hope to replace it soon, and I'd like another one for her baby cousin. My daughter also has the Mozart cube and loves it equally, but of course, she can't sing with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars My child loves it! I love it!
This is a great toy. It is really durrable, easy to work and safe. It has been dropped a lot. It's even been dropped on cement and down wooden stairs. I got it from a garage sale and her 3 kids were really rough with it she said. And it isn't cracked, scuffed or broken in any way. I'd recommend this toy for every child!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very nice musical toy
I've been very pleased with my purchase of the Sing with Me Magic Cube.I gave it to my niece on her 1st birthday. Her father is a musician and her mother is a singer, so I wanted a gift that would help promote musical interests. She loves the Baby Einstein videos (e.g. Baby Mozart) which feature classical music, so I decided to get her something that would teach her many of the songs that she is likely to sing when she starts school in several years.

She loves singing and dancing to all the songs on this cube.(BTW, the toy is purely instrumental only ... no vocals ... she has learned the words from others around her who sing the words to the music.)I don't think she understands exactly how to turn the individual instruments on and off yet, but she has lots of fun hitting all the buttons trying to get it to play her two favorite songs -- Old Macdonalds Farm and Itsy Bitsy Spider.

This toy is sure to last for a very long time, as it has thick rubber knobbie corners that cushion it when dropped.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent even for adults
I bought this toy for my one year old nephew, but am having a hard time letting go. It is soooo cute and I find myself singing along with it and choosing the instruments I want to hear. I know I have to let it go... but it's going to be hard. This toy is as great as other reviews indicate.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dropped it
I too have purchased this toy because it had been dropped and broken. My now 2 year old son LOVES this toy. We had received the first one as a gift. He would play and carry it around with him all day long. One day it was dropped and the piece that holds the batteries in broke and then wouldn't work. So I went out to replace the toy.
After having the replacement toy for about 3 months it again was dropped and the same thing happened. The toy is GREAT and very educational. The whole family loves to sing along with the songs. However, I feel that something needs to be done about the area where the batteries are held. The sides of the toy have rubber ends and maybe the battery area should have a rubber end too.

1-0 out of 5 stars No documentation
You better know how to use a chromatic tuner if you buy this because the "instruction" booklet doesn't bother to tell you. I've got red and green lights flashing at me--have no idea what all this means.

5-0 out of 5 stars An entry level tuner
I am a beginning guitar student and I have no idea how to tune a guitar. This little, easy to carry, easy to use device is invaluable. It's auto function is amazing, just play the note and it will automatically recognize what you're trying to do.For someone like me who doesn't want to spend valuable practice time reading manuals for their tuner this is the perfect device. The built in mic works perfectly. Can't beat the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Value
This tuner is a great bargain. It works properly and efficiently, and works well for any type of instrument. The microphone is very sensitive, and even in a room of instruments warming up, I am able to tune my flute. (It also has a jack for guitar tuning.) Overall, this tuner is simply a great deal for the money spent.

5-0 out of 5 stars great product, great new store on Amazon
Let's face it, what you want in a tuner is something that's going to give you high accuracy in an easy-to-use manner. This is exactly what this tuner offers. I'm using it for both electric and acoustic guitars, and it works like a charm on both. It's got both automatic and manual tuning, but the auto tune is so accurate, it's all I use.

I also want to say that I think it's wonderful that Amazon has teamed up with Musician's Friend. MF is a fantastic online store for everything a musician needs, with often much lower prices than any brick-and-mortar stores I've been in. I received my order just two days after I placed it, and the products are very high quality.

So, there's my two cents. I guess you could pay more for a tuner with some bells and whistles, maybe a metronome, but you have to ask yourself how much you're really going to need all that. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Significantly adds to drum practice
I don't practice without this amazingly compact and useful timekeeper. The beat range is wide - from 40 to 240 beats per minute in 4 beat increments, and the headphone jack is a nice bonus.

What I especially like is the audio and visual modes - you can go by the clicks or a red light that blinks in time.At faster tempos, though, the light is harder to follow than the click. You can select both the click and light together, which is another great feature. Finally, you can quickly dial in your tempo, which is an improvement over many metronones that require you to use a button to increase or decrease beats - going from 126 beats per minute to 240 takes a second versus having to keep pressing a button on competing metronomes.

It's loud enough to be heard over my drum kit when I have it close, and the timing is dead on accurate.

The tuning to standard A or Bb is yet another feature that drummers will find useful with doing an initial reference tuning. It allows you to quickly get a reference tone on one drum, then tune your kit from there.

Since counting is essential to good practice using this instead of depending on verbal counting when playing is a big help and has enabled me to measurable improve my grooves (I still count off in my head when playing, but now I know that I am perfectly accurate).

    Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value
This metronome works like a dream. It is compact enough to be carried anywhere, yet makes a sound that can be heard clearly over any volume of instrument. The turn-wheel makes it easy to select your desired tempo, and two different clicking noises are available, as well as a silent blinking light. The stand on the back and tuning A and Bb notes make this metronome very handy to have around. Its only downfall lies in the tempo settings - the tempo can only be set to one of the pre-marked numbers around the wheel (which tend to add in increments of four). If you're looking for a tempo in between two settings, you're out of luck.

Despite this, I feel this metronome is a great deal for the price, and I would recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars works wonderful!
This metronome has been working perfectly since i got it about 2 years ago.The turning knob makes it easy to turn to the perfect speed. It has an additional concert Bflat and A note built in so you can kind-of tune to it.A nice little stand deal is on the back, and its small compact size make it wonderful to take with you to band practice or lessons. It also has two different tones that you can set it to, or, if you like, you can just have a niftly little light blink the tempo.I highly recomend this metronome. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware!
I guess I should have read the reviews before purchasing. The stand arrived via UPS in very poor condition and the screws were missing. I returned it and another was sent to me from Amazon. The second one arrived in worse condition than the first and again, the screws were missing. Amazon will not send another one, stating "As it seems that the problem with this item is more widespread than we originally thought, we are not able to send another replacement. We will investigate and remedy the situation with the item; however, I cannot guarantee when the error may be fixed." However, several days later, I see that this product is still available for purchase. For the very first time, I am dissatisfied with Amazon.com!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
After reading the other reviews I was expecting problems with delivary. But the box the stand came in was packed into a big shipping box, full of protective packaging material. It was in perfect condition.
The instructions are confusing, but I put it together without the diagram and it only took a few minutes and some common sense. (The screws are screwed into the ends of each leg.)
Overall I was very pleased. I have small children and the stand is stable enough for even the 2 year old to use it.

1-0 out of 5 stars No screws! Arrrgh!
I thought I'd be luckier than most of the previous reviewers, but no; when my Deluxe Keyboard Stand was delivered, it was missing eight screws and eight grippers, thus making it impossible to assemble.I had to repack it and return it to Amazon. What a waste of time.I also noticed that it is designed so that, when seated, your knees hit the stand legs, making it almost impossible to use (should you ever get all the parts).

I have since bought a very strong, properly-designed stand by Kaman in a local store (already assembled).I suggest Amazon stop selling this Casio stand, as all the necessary parts often are not included.

2-0 out of 5 stars More of the same
Missing all screws.I know this product is good, but the hassle of getting it all together is the problem. No screws means it is not good.I hope it will all be resolved by the manufacturer or Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I didn't experience any problems at all with this product! It only took a short time to set up, and is very sturdy! I bought it with the PSR-175 keyboard through amazon.com.
(I'm not sure how much I'd trust others who "were missing screws or parts" in their reviews...I'd just advise you to open the package carefully, and to do it in an open space, so you can't lose anything) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy
A lot of tuner for a buck. Probably the best out there. Compact, light, very precise, the built-in microphone is sensitive enough, maybe too sensitive, because it picks up the background noise. You can tune guitar, mandolin, ...., violin, cowbell, and use the input socket for contact mics.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
The display is very clear and easy to read and has a "dial" that swings left to right to tell you how close you are to whatever pitch you're trying to play. Comes with an electric input as well as a mic. It's very small and compact and the battery life is good. Great tuner at a great price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent value -- I have 2 of these.
I prefer the older model a little more as it has better, more positive buttons - I usually find myself having to press on/off twice.Other than than it is superb.I have one velcro'd to my music stand for my electric guitar -- which I feed from my Marshall practice amplifier's line-out (or the effects line out of my other amp). The other, I use for my acoustic guitar (the tuner has a built in microphone), my son's & for checking the key/chords of tunes (that is a nice benefit of the "chromatic" part of this feature -- it will correctly detect & identify any and all notes).Batteries are cheap/common AAA & usuage is very low (the LCD is not backlit, so power usage is minimal).Stability is comparable to most other tuners including those costing $100 and more.

I recently invested in a Boss TU2 foot pedal tuner.I actually prefer the Boss -- it is brighter (for stage use) and, although technically less accurate than the Korg, provides more stable readings and hence allows very quick tuning. It can also be used as a mute switch and has a strobe feature which I never use. However, this costs about 5x as much as the Korg, uses more power (either wall wart or expensive 9V battery).

In conclusion, the Korg is excellent value at well under $20. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great item!
The other reviewer made cogent and relavent points.
I actually bought this for something other than its
stated purpose: to use as a lanyard because of its
density and width.I love it and will probably get
    another.

5-0 out of 5 stars You Don't Have To Pay A Lot
Sure, it's not as cool or fancy as some of the other guitar straps out there, but this very inexpensive guitar strap gets the job done. Some people will also appreciate the fact that this is a leather-free strap. The nylon is strong, and slides easily under the buckle for quick adjustment (and there is a lot of length to adjust). The Easy Lock feature is just that: The hole in the guitar strap fits easily around your guitar's strap holder, pull back gently and you have a tighter and more secure fit.

The lack of padding make be insufficient for professionals or people who play standing for a long time.I just use this with my bass for practice. For these reasons you may want to opt for a thicker strap and/or Dunlop's shoulder padding that fits onto the strap. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and helpful
This thing kind of sucks you in. I purchased it last year and really liked it. Then I let the monthly subscription lapse during my move and after getting re-established I hooked it back up and found I couldn't play the stuff I'd downloaded. I was kind of put off by this, but recently hooked it back up and re-subscribed for the free 30 days thinking I'd use it for 30 then cancel. But honestly, I'm not so sure. For a modest $7.99 a month you have access to some seriously good lessons and grooves to practise to. For the working guitarist, I'm not sure of the value, but for an occasional player like myself (couple of times a week), the ability to automatically loop tracks, tablature that keeps up with the tracks, the ability to slow the track down and in some cases remove the guitars from the track is simply awesome and a lot cheaper than guitar lessons. I have a modeling amp (Fender Cyber-deluxe)and play throught that, but the Guitar Port amp settings can actually help you learn to dial in your amp too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Me Likey Guitar Port
The GuitarPort was the perfect solution for me. After moving house, I had no place for a rack & cab setup... and *gasp* now I have neighbors! Now I can jam even at 3 AM. Most of the time I either use the headphones or PC speakers. But the RCA outs are good for hooking it up to a stereo and use that as a PA when you want to get loud.

An unexpected bonus was now I could record!!!!! LOL but I guess this was a major feature of the GuitarPort anyway, recording. I'm slow like that.

The GuitarPort works well even with very old legacy software (I'm using an old 1999 "free bundle ware" version of Cakewalk Express) and it still functions perfectly under WinXP. This, in conjunction with a neat freeware program called Audacity, and you have a cheap recording setup for PC. Apparently Line6 also has their own recording sofware called Rifftracker or something, but I've never used it since I'm cheap and got freeware stuff :)

The tones are killer. I've also been downloading tones for free from GuitarPort online. But if you want some tracks to jam to, you have to pay their monthly fee, but I've never paid for that service since I'm recording my own stuff.

Another a heads up, I poked around the Line6 website when I needed new XP drivers (after upgrading my PC from Win98, I'm old fashioned), and it said the latest software version was 2.5 (free download btw). So I installed it, and to my surprise I found that I now had 16 amp models and a startling 24 cab models. So the manufacturer press release which states "15 Killer Amp & 14 Cab Models" is either extremely modest or outdated. So it seems it pays off to visit the website once in a while to check for software updates.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome
I purchased the Guitar Port from Amazon the other day, and when it arrived I was excited to see what my Les Paul would sound like though my computer. My old amp fried out a couple of years ago, and I have only been playing acoustic since.I was afraid that it might sound a little artificial.Boy was I wrong!

After only a few hours of use, I can tell you that this is going to reinvigorate my play. This product is much, much better than I though it could ever be.It sounds great! The ability to pick from 10 heads, 10 cabinets, and several effects allows you to create the exact tone needed for a given song.I have already saved 5 "tones".I can just pick from a list to grab a nice tube "warm" amp, to the heavy crunch I save for Metallica licks, to a sweet chorus with a bit of distortion for a number of rockers.

I also love the hum reducer which learns from your guitar, and removes almost all of the guitar hum.Between that and the noise gate, my guitar seems much cleaner than I have ever heard it.

A small but very nice feature is the tuner, which makes it pretty dead simple to tune your axe. There are a number of other features I have not used yet.You can play along with Mp3, CD, etc.

A previous reviewer mentioned that the online service is a rip-off and you have to watch "the fine print".I bought this product as an amp replacement, so I have not subscribed to the online service. You do not have to pay the online $10/month fee to use this product. All the cool stuff that I have mentioned is yours, forever.

All in all, this is the coolest guitar toy I have ever used, far better than any of the pre-amp pedals/effects that I have tried out over the years.

1-0 out of 5 stars watch for the fine print
On the surface it sounds like a great idea- but there are so many catches and it is set up on the corporate end so badly it is just a scam to steal a monthly fee from you- read on- In order to download any of the songs you can play over you have to pay the monthly fee- in addition, you can't record yourself playing along with them- they have it fixed so you can't do it- plus, they try to sell you the most overpriced software I have ever seen to record yourself at all. And this is not recording you playing along either because, again, they won't let you. And here is the most pernicious part of all- if you don't keep paying the monthly fee it won't let you play along with songs you already downloaded anymore!! That's right, they cut you off. Their song selection sucks- it is almost all "hendrix" "clapton" old classic rock crap- there is no Fuel, nickelback, etc, no new bands at all. And most of the "songs" are really lessons. So unless you plan to pay a monthly fee forever so you can play along with "all right now" and "freebird" over and over, but not be able to record yourself doing it, save your money. The guitarport was a godd idea and could have been great- but the insane greed of Line 6 has ruined any possibility of that. Pass on this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Renewed my interest in the guitar
As a teenager I played the guitar all the time.I loved it!But as time goes on, you go to college, you get married, you have kids. Not so suddenly the guitar become not so important (after all I realize that I am not the next Eddie Van Halen now). But my wife (who never really has seen me play the guitar) bought me this for christmas...This is the most unbelievably coolest gift ever.I play it all the time.It is a perfect marrage of my time wasted on the computer and the past love of the guitar.I have played with this toy every day since christmas.I have even managed to impress my wife.If you love the guitar but don't have thousands of bucks to spend on equipement, and you have a decent computer, this is a MUST HAVE!!!! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars This is not a good stand.
I believe the description says something about "reliable," but it isn't. I would not trust leaving my guitar on this for a moment. A friend of mine, who also plays the guitar, has one as well, his guitar slid off and gut majorly scratched by a sharp edge. Also, its being "nonreactive" is a joke. In the booklet that comes in the box with it it specificly says something about possibility of parts of the stand reacting with the finish on a guitar. By all means do not by this stand!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Some wonderful features
I generally use a Seiko SQ-50 (ASIN B0002F7GX2) when practicing, but this one has some great features for drummers that the Seiko lacks.

First, for the slower tempos from 40 to 60 beats per minute you can select the beat in two-beat increments versus the four-beat increments that the Seiko is fixed at. From 60 through 72 beats the increments are three-beat, increasing to four-beat from 72 through 120, the range from 126 through 144 is in six-beat increments, increasing to eight-beat increments for the remainder of the range, which stops at 208.While the faster tempo increments have coarser settings than the Seiko (and the Seiko goes to 240 beats), the smaller increments at slower tempos is a plus.

Second, this metronome is LOUD, which is a feature that drummers will appreciate.I also like the ability to set accents to occur anywhere in the two to six beat range. This is another wonderful features for drummers.

It uses both audio and visual clues (a clack and LED lights), and has a headphone jack.

This metronome has won me over. I still use my Seiko, but find myself using this one more and more. If you're a drummer I strongly recommend that you give this one a try. ... Read more
