5-0 out of 5 stars Great value!
I'm using this tuner for a guitar with a pickup, so I don't have a need for the microphone, but I did verify that the microphone works. The tuner is very simple to use: Just play an open string, and it will automatically tell you how much off you are. It just works...

4-0 out of 5 stars Neat, Simple Tuner
I'm no expert on tuning, but I've been using this little tuner for my violin, and it seems to be excellent. It's easy to use, simple, gives understandable readings, and the microphone on it is very responsive.I would give it 5 stars, except for the case on it is a little poorly designed, and it's more difficult than it could be to change the batteries in it (though I've been using it for months and the batteries that came with it are still good), but this isn't much of a problem.Overall, it's a great, cheap tuner, if you prefer the kind that listens to you and gives you a reading -- which I think is the easiest kind to work with. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars No documentation
You better know how to use a chromatic tuner if you buy this because the "instruction" booklet doesn't bother to tell you. I've got red and green lights flashing at me--have no idea what all this means.

5-0 out of 5 stars An entry level tuner
I am a beginning guitar student and I have no idea how to tune a guitar. This little, easy to carry, easy to use device is invaluable. It's auto function is amazing, just play the note and it will automatically recognize what you're trying to do.For someone like me who doesn't want to spend valuable practice time reading manuals for their tuner this is the perfect device. The built in mic works perfectly. Can't beat the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Value
This tuner is a great bargain. It works properly and efficiently, and works well for any type of instrument. The microphone is very sensitive, and even in a room of instruments warming up, I am able to tune my flute. (It also has a jack for guitar tuning.) Overall, this tuner is simply a great deal for the money spent.

5-0 out of 5 stars great product, great new store on Amazon
Let's face it, what you want in a tuner is something that's going to give you high accuracy in an easy-to-use manner. This is exactly what this tuner offers. I'm using it for both electric and acoustic guitars, and it works like a charm on both. It's got both automatic and manual tuning, but the auto tune is so accurate, it's all I use.

I also want to say that I think it's wonderful that Amazon has teamed up with Musician's Friend. MF is a fantastic online store for everything a musician needs, with often much lower prices than any brick-and-mortar stores I've been in. I received my order just two days after I placed it, and the products are very high quality.

So, there's my two cents. I guess you could pay more for a tuner with some bells and whistles, maybe a metronome, but you have to ask yourself how much you're really going to need all that. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great toy
A lot of tuner for a buck. Probably the best out there. Compact, light, very precise, the built-in microphone is sensitive enough, maybe too sensitive, because it picks up the background noise. You can tune guitar, mandolin, ...., violin, cowbell, and use the input socket for contact mics.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
The display is very clear and easy to read and has a "dial" that swings left to right to tell you how close you are to whatever pitch you're trying to play. Comes with an electric input as well as a mic. It's very small and compact and the battery life is good. Great tuner at a great price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent value -- I have 2 of these.
I prefer the older model a little more as it has better, more positive buttons - I usually find myself having to press on/off twice.Other than than it is superb.I have one velcro'd to my music stand for my electric guitar -- which I feed from my Marshall practice amplifier's line-out (or the effects line out of my other amp). The other, I use for my acoustic guitar (the tuner has a built in microphone), my son's & for checking the key/chords of tunes (that is a nice benefit of the "chromatic" part of this feature -- it will correctly detect & identify any and all notes).Batteries are cheap/common AAA & usuage is very low (the LCD is not backlit, so power usage is minimal).Stability is comparable to most other tuners including those costing $100 and more.

I recently invested in a Boss TU2 foot pedal tuner.I actually prefer the Boss -- it is brighter (for stage use) and, although technically less accurate than the Korg, provides more stable readings and hence allows very quick tuning. It can also be used as a mute switch and has a strobe feature which I never use. However, this costs about 5x as much as the Korg, uses more power (either wall wart or expensive 9V battery).

In conclusion, the Korg is excellent value at well under $20. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tuning For Dummies
I bought this as a beginning violin student a few years ago. I got tired of waiting until my lessons for my instructor to tune my violin. You simply attach it anywhere on the instrument and pluck the strings. The number of arrows on the left and right of the display tell you if the string is flat or sharp.Your goal is to get a readout of 3 arrows on each side.Too few on the left? It's sharp.Loosen peg.Too few on the right? It's flat.Tighten peg.Tune and pluck, tune and pluck...bingo!Everyone I've shown it to wants one. It's a little expensive, but if you want a fast and easy way to tune, this is for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a Godsend!!
I just received this tuner today and I am already in love with it! I have a 12 string accoustic/electric guitar, and though it sounds just beautiful, it is a real pain to tune! The fact that my hearing is not as good as it was in my youth does not help matters. I have a tuner I got a few years ago, but it is so difficult to use, it has spent the years in the compartment of my guitar case. I recently have researched via the internet just about every tuner made, and decided to take a chance on the Intellitouch PT1. Am I glad I did! It is SO EASY TO USE! Within minutes after taking it out of the box I had the 12ver perfectly tuned! It attaches by a built-in clamp onto the headstock, and works by 'reading' the string you pluck by vibration. No mikes or wires! You can even do it in the dark with the back-light feature! This tuner costs a bit more, but it will be a well used piece of equipment - not buried in the compartment of the guitar case! If you are in the market for a tuner, I highly recommend the PT1.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buying my third presently
I have used this tuner for years, loving it the whole while.Previously I've used everything from a pitch pipe, my home piano, memory, chromatics...other electric ones and pick ups. This one is the sweetest I've used thus far.Other than my own I have bought a friend one and am now buying my mother one as well.I have used this tuner often to tune guitar, violin/fiddle, mandolin, and dulcimer with no complaints. The last review stating it was overrated because it was a pain to deal with while bowing....well umm...EVERYTHING is difficult while bowing, lol.I always pluck my violin/fiddle while tuning then check it later and it's always true. This tuner is the handiest I've ever seen and I recommend it to all players...everyone of mymusical friends who does not have one yearns after my own but unfortunately I can't afford to buy everyone one!

3-0 out of 5 stars Overrated
We bought one of these because they looked cool. But, it did not work well when bowed and was more of a pain than it was worth.Instead buy a cheap Korg tuner and a cheap clip on pickup for your bridge.Even with an entire orchestra class playing, they still work great.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for any brass or any loud instrument
Like the previous reviewer, I too find the metronome to be too quiet, at least for a trumpet player. The volume is turned up full but I still cannot hear it.

I question the accuracy of the tuner. My current trumpet is of the low-end, and I suspected it of playing a little flat, but the tuner tells me it's at least one full step below. Based on my neighbor's piano, it's not THAT flat.

Don't make the same mistake I did.

2-0 out of 5 stars Tuner is Awful
I bought this metronome/tuner combo to replace my old separate metronome and tuner and for the adjustable volume feature, and have been overall disappointed. While I like its size, shape, color, etc, I have 3 problems:
1) although the metronome has adjustable volume (which is nice), it doesn't get as loud as my old metronome;
2) the large, hard on/off button on the front makes for lots of accidental turning on while it's put away in my instrument case (my old tuner, a Korg CA-30, has a small, rubber on/off button on the front that doesn't cause it to randomly turn on in my case); and most importantly
3) after I play a note or two in the lower range of my tenor trombone, the tuner becomes wavery and/or cannnot detect any note of any pitch. I don't know how this tuner would function for, say, a flute player, but definitely don't count on it if your a trombonist! Stay with good brands like Korg. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good tuner for acoustic instruments
This tuner doesn't work like a standard electric tuner - you attach it directly to your instrument where it picks up the vibrations. It's great for non-standard instruments. I do wish it had a more precise dial/meter for telling you the level of the input or how close you were to the note, but it works fine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful Acoustic Tool
This tuner is one of the easiest and most accurate tuners on the market. The fact that it can be used on multiple instruments is one of the best features.I have used electronic tuners in the past but ambient noise always made them difficult to use, This tuner does not have that problem since it is clamped to the instrument and picks up vibrations directly.

I personally use it on my two guitars and my ukulele. If you need to use a tuner in a darkened performance setting, consider the upgraded model which has a backlit screen, if not, this model is a great value for the money. ... Read more
