The bridge has to be professionally installed.
I am not rating the bridge itself but the lack of product support that comes included with the bridge.This bridge should be filed and installed by a professional guitar repairman so you get the proper performance from it.But you don't find this out until you open the bridge packaging and see on the back of the bridge "Recommended Installation By Professional Guitar Repairman".The bridge doesn't come with any instructions so it is not likely that you will be able to file the bridge yourself and have it work properly without buzzes.You can't simply use any old round file to file a grove as you need to use special files that are the diameter of each of the strings.I can't rate the bridge any higher than one star as you are not not given instructions of how to install the bridge or file the saddles so it can be used. Even with instructions the installation is best left to the professional repairman to get full benefit of the solidly built bridge.But for the cost I would expect some rudimentry drawings with some basic instructions as to the angle of the file cuts.If you don't have a professional guitar repairman in your area avoid this bridge, and just stick with the stock bridge which are quite good.Before buying any bass bridge find out if it needs filing and professional installation before purchase.Always keep your original bridge as it will help with the collector value of your bass. ... I've played a couple of basses with the 123's in them, but I'm telling you the DP149Bk's are a superior DiMarzio.They are sometimes referred as the "Ultra-Jazz" pickups.Lot's of response from Bass, midrange, and treble.Check out the charts at DiMarzio's website.I put a set of the 149's in my Jazz Fretless, with some 500 pots and a 1.9 cap... thought I had an active setup for a minute.The highs(which go to ground first) are pumped (with the help of the 500 pots and 1.9 caps).Those highs and the higher end of the midrange aren't going anywhere except through the sub-woofer.Clear, clean superb and definately the tonality I was searching for.I was thinking about going to a Music Man stingray 5, but the need isn't there anylonger, unless I need an egobass.

The 123's should do, if you're into a straight ahead rock sound with a more focused sound.I like a little variety in my approach to a lot of tunes, so I had to change my control settings.Using the neck pickup more for lower sounds, rather than the tone control to bury the waveform in the mud.It's refreshing to have all this control whereas it didn't exist with the stock Fender P/U's.DiMarzio has definately aced the quality department and the tech's at the factory were very helpful in working with me in figuring out the the rest of the components.If you change pickups, change the pots and caps along with them.That is a must.Otherwise you're compromising the upgrade. ...
