2-0 out of 5 stars why bother?
just learn the real guitar, how stupid would you look pressing buttons that light up...believe don't bother!

5-0 out of 5 stars Poor man's - no! Smart man's Variax!
In addition to teaching you how to play lots of chords and do other necessary guitar-playing things, the wonderful range of tones (instruments) on this guitar and its adaptive features almost do away with the need for a second guitar. My mouth was watering for a Variax acoustic but when I measured it up with the EZ-AG I had to admit the EZ-AG met by far the most of my expectations.I like this instrument because for what I get it is inexpensive but never cheap. It's also sturdy, lightweight, easier to fret than a standard acoustic but lets you do slides and other things you wouldn't expect on plastic "string" pieces. I think maybe this is the last guitar I will ever own.

4-0 out of 5 stars Neat guitar but over priced if you buy it here.
It is basically the same guitar as EZ-EG but without the tremelo and the UX-16 USB MIDI cable.Another neat thing about this guitar (besides being stringless) is that you can use it as a MIDI controller.
I've been watching the price for this neat learning guitar on Amazon for a while now, but am disappointed that it is still way over priced ($249.99 at this moment) compare to other online retailers. Most online stores are selling this thing for under $200.The cheapest I've found (from musiciansbuy.com) was $195.95 including free shipping, Yamaha PA3C power adaptor, Stereo headphones and Two-year extended warranty.I hope Amazon will not only match but also beat that price soon so I can put this guitar in my wish list to show my wife what I want for Christmas.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best guitar ever
I think that my kramer candy apple red guitar is the best! everything is perfect the strings, the sound, the shape you name it is the best guitar ever and I know guitars and i'm only ten.All my friends really like It to you should use it for advertisement. I think amazon.com is the best place to shop!

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite Guitar.
The price is amazing, for the tone and fun you get with a guitar like this. I sit all day playing it. It is a strat style guitar, and although I prefer SG types, this is a lot of fun, and out of all the 8 guitars I own, this is my favorite.

2-0 out of 5 stars GAG!
I will have to agree with the first reviewer this guitar does have great action. But Everything else about it sucks, espically since its a strat style guitar you can only get 2 out of 5 pickup positions without fret buzz.Save your self some time and get an ESP!

4-0 out of 5 stars Cannot be beat for the money!
My favorite guitar in my humble collection. The best guitar under $150 you can buy.

Don't expect great tuners, and the tremolo's only good, but not great. And you're well advised to replace the stock strings and adjust the bridge before you play the unit for the first time.

Do expect very good sounding, hot pickups, smooth five-position pickup selection, solid electronics, and best of all, outstanding action from a beautifully finished instrument. The Kramer Focus beats cheap Squiers & Epiphone's hands down. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars all this for so cheap?
Well, I am impressed. I was hesitant when seeing some of the bad write ups but figured with Musician's Friend's great service, if it isn't good- send it back. Well, no need to send it back. I got the black one, very classic looking- almost flawless finish(has one tiny white stray mark under the clear but it's on the bottom back). Grover tuners are SILKY and the Washburn humbuckers ROCK! All pots work smooth and static-free(2 tone/2 volume and a three way switch)All hardware was tight and performed great. Intonition is dead on money. I MIGHT run lighter strings next go round(I like .09-.42s). Very nice sound since semi-hollow. I had a $20 off coupon so for under a benji-frank, I have a very nice guitar. Originally, I didn't even LOOK at semi-hollows, I'm young, they look OLD. But THEN, I played an Epiphone Dot Studio and I fell in LOVE with the short string length and easy of playability on the thin neck. And for a lot cheaper, I could get an Oscar-Schmidt- so I did. I got the gig bag too and it was worth the extra. Tweed vintage look with embroidered Oscar Schmidt. If you want a Gibson, GO BUY ONE, don't give this little axe a bad rap because you didn't buy what you really wanted. If you want a cheap playable semi-hollow to diversify your collection, go for it!

3-0 out of 5 stars quality control
I've had to send back 3 of these already (scratched pickguard and neck pickup down inside the body) Musician's Friend's policy is to keep shipping out a different one at their expense rather than open the box to see if their stock is defective.I'm waiting on #4 to arrive. The price is right only if you get a good one.Otherwise it's not a good value after paying a repairman to fix it.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Inexpensive Axe To Play The Blues On
As you know from my tool reviews I am a magazine columnistwho reviews tools for boatbuilding. My other love beside my wife and tools is my music playing. When I became disabled I solda lot of my guitar collection to pay bills and I thought I would never use them again. When I started playing again I found I needed a good quality guitar that had good resonance to give a little blues flavor.I ordered the OE30 with some trepidation since it was very inexpensive. When I got it the strings were rusted junk but the rest of the guitar was very nice.No neck warp, no uneven frets, good sounding hum buckers and excellent intonation .

This model was made in China and not Indonesia as all the newer OE30's are now.The finish has no flaws at all and the Grover tuners work great.I have heard some very bad reviews of this guitar but I must have received a perfect specimen. When I hook this axe to my big amp and play you would think I could be playing a Gretch or Gibson semi hollow body . In fact the OE30 fits in the Epiphone 335 case that is on sale for very few bucks and it fits perfectly. My suggestion for anyone is to buy this sweet machine but send back any inferior products because they may have some quality control issues and they do have an excellent return policy.Mine is black but for the price I would not mind having a cherry and blue burst model also.Who could have thought that I could buy a great semi hollow body guitar for less than a grand although it does say Delta King on the headstock.Try one or more you will like them!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best deal .
I'm a hobbyist amateur and found this to be the best way to own a quality semi hollow body guitar. It has a great tone and fast neck.

The pick-ups and bridge are inconsistantly installed and adjusted from the factory (Indonesia).

I bought 3 and they all need some various professional attention.

Otherwise an excellent bargain. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good But Needs Work
I got this guitar for my son as a Christmas present and found it has both good and bad points.

The good:Looks new, came with all parts, no scratches or rust.Everything works very well on the guitar with the exceptions noted below.

Excellent price for a beginner guitar.

The bad:Slight fret buzz (strings sometimes hit the frets up by the neck of the guitar), so the guitar will have to be adjusted to eliminate that.In my opinion, that adjustment should have been done before reselling it;

No manual of any sort included, and could not find one on the Yamaha site, so adjustment may be tricky;

Lastly, I agree with one of the other reviewers that the single box packaging is not enough protection for shipping this guitar.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for me!
Ordered mine a few days before Xmas with free shipping and received it on the 23rd, bravo Amazon! Unfortunatly I did not receive my Rogue 2x12" 100w $150 amp from MusiciansFriend.com until yesterday. The guitar looks brand new and came with everything it was supposed to come with. One of the pickups has a small amount of rust but it is barely noticable. All and all it was a great price for what I was looking for and I didn't have to spend extra money on the small amp I didn't need. Instead I got a much bigger amp for almost the same price as the kit!

3-0 out of 5 stars It's not bad
After purchasing this guitar, I was warned to never buy a used guitar online, so I was pretty apprehensive in waiting for it to come. When it got here, it didn't seem that bad. I'm sorry for PH_7 who never got a cable. But mine came with a 9 foot cable, a set of allen keys and the Tremolo arm, which you screw onto the guitar. Although I was a little dissapointed in the guitar's body condition. By refurbished, I guess it means that they replaced certain parts. But my guitar had scratches on the frount, one of the pickup is rusty and the strings are a little old. But hey, it is a used guitar.
All in all, I'm pretty satisfied. I think it's a good guitar for a beginner who doesn't need a $700 fender to start on.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Truly Refurbished
The Yamaha 112 has an excellent reputation as a beginner's guitar, and I looked to Amazon to pick one up.Amazon sells the full 112 beginner's kit, which is essentially the guitar, gig bag, guitar cable, amp, and pitch pipe.I already have an amp and tuner, so this refurbished model fit the bill -- a guitar, gig bag and cable for a reasonable price.I know repairing/refurbishing guitars in not really rocket science, as every pawn shop and music exchange manager can attest. I assumed that Yamaha was refurbishing customer returns and selling them through Amazon. Naturally I expected that Yamaha and Amazon would do the job right.

Well, I'm sad to report that the job was not done right on the guitar I received.A new Yamaha 112 comes with a chrome tremolo. The Amazon listing for the refurbished 112 confirms that the guitar comes with a tremolo. The guitar I received had NO tremolo.Instead, the guitar has a hole where the tremolo belongs.Nice and classy, huh? How did this get through quality control?I can imagine some teenager broke the tremelo off the guitar, returned it, and Yamaha (through Amazon) shipped it right back out -- to me!

The promised guitar cable was also missing. Just a gig bag and guitar with a missing tremolo. Also, although the package seemed to arrive in good shape, I was surprised to find the guitar has shipped without any outer packaging around the original box. Just 1/8" of cardboard and a few styrofoam spacers between the guitar and the harsh world of a UPS trailer.

Caveat emptor.Refurbished is subjective, it seems. Maybe you'll be lucky, and get all the parts Amazon says you will receive. I was not so fortunate. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the money
I bought one of these for my daughter, and was very surprised at how much guitar you get for the low price point. It tuned up quickly, stayed in tune, had decent intonation up through the 12th fret, and was fun to play with a sweet, solid tone. Based on my experience, and that of a lot of other reviews I've seen elsewhere, I think the chap who gave it one star unfortunately got a dud. This guitar compared well with ones around $100-150, so give it a look.

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware!! It is more a toy than an instrument
Having never played the guitar and wanting to learn, I bought one of these with high hopes on it being a nice starter. When it arrived it seemed a little small but I was assured that it was meant to be small and that it would make it easier to learn on. I accepted that but was still a bit put off by the shoddy quality. I had a friend who is a very accomplished guitarist tune it for me and as he did, several strings broke right off the bat. Restrung, we moved to a second attempt at tuning it. None of the strings would stay in tune and after several adjustments, the bridge actually seperated from the body of the guitar, rendering it unplayable. Don't be duped. This is a toy guitar. They market it towards kids because most will just be playing with it and banging on it, no concern for actual correctness And they market it towards beginners hoping that people will be looking at price, not investigating quality. If that's what you're looking for, then this is perfect. I found out the hard way: If you're serious about learing the guitar, make the inital investment for a decent one. Visit an actual store and try a few out, ask questions, shop around. I've found quite a few nice beginner guitars for a little over $100. And if you make the investment in a nicer instrument, you're more likely to recoup most of your losses if learning it doesn't work out or when you're ready to move on to a better one. This poor example, I would be surpised if I could give it away. And I've seen them sold on other sites for about $15.00.Good luck. ... Read more
