Amazing quality and value
You cannot get a better China cymbal from Zildjian, Sabian or Paiste -at any price - and the splash is also an amazing cymbal that will add a new sound dimension to any kit.

The China is 18", and has the most complex sound I have had the pleasure of hearing.It is loud, and beats any other China I've tried (and I have tried some expensive ones!)The 10" splash has slight China overtones, which adds a distinctive and unique sound that is somewhere between a traditional high-end splash such as the Zildjian A-series (ASIN B0002CZX6C) and a typical China cymbal.

Excellent deal on entry-level cymbals
When it comes to entry level cymbals this set is one of what I consider to be the main choices if you want to purchase a decent set of quality cymbals at a good price.

You get the basic essentials with a large pair of 14" hi-hats, a 16" crash and 20" ride cymbal, plus a bonus cymbal bag.These cymbals sound great and will continue to serve the beginner well as he or she moves into intermediate and advanced skills (and gigs).

However, if you are buying an entry-level drum kit for someone be aware that there are two other cymbal brands that have similar performance and set-up packs in the same approximate price range. Cymbal brands are almost a religion with drummers, and beginners are no exception. Find out if Sabian is the preferred brand, or if Zildjian or Paiste is more to their liking. If Paiste, I recommend that you consider the Paiste 302 Plus Standard Cymbal Set (ASIN B0002D0NU2). If Zildjian, consider the Zildjian ZBT Series Basic Set Up 4 Pack (ASIN B0002CZXXA). Good Starter Cymbal Set
I recently purchased this cymbal pack for my church praise team.I chose it because the name brand was Sabian and it was less expensive than similar packages from Zildjian.I have played it a couple of times and it sounds decent.If you are on a tight budget, this cymbal package will work well for you.It is a Sabian so naturally the sound is good.However, if you can afford it, purchase Sabian AAX cymbals as they sound much better.The bonus for this package is that a Sabian AAX 10" Splash is included.This cymbal is the best one in the package.It is nice to have an effects cymbal, but it isn't necessary if you are just starting.If you can afford a little bit more than $200, purchase the B8 Pro starter set as it sounds significantly better than the this B8 set, but the cost is not prohibitive.Overall this is a good starter cymbal set. ... Avoid - get the ZBT pack instead for entry level
Zildjian is (and long has been) my cymbal of choice. I typically use the Avedis line (A series), but do have some ZBT cymbals too.I gave this Planet Z pack a try and was shocked at how poorly they sounded and how cheaply they were made.

If you are a loyal Zildjian fan and are either looking for an entry-level set of Zildjian cymbals, or are on a budget, spend the minor difference in price and get the Zildjian ZBT Basic I Cymbal Set (ASIN B0002ZO3L0) instead.Although the ZBT line is not up to the same level as Zildjian's A or K series, they are a quantum leap over the Planet Z series. ...
