For poverty-stricken beginners
I suppose I'm lucky in that my very first cymbals, purchased way back in the dark ages, was a 20" Zildjian ride. These days there aremore cymbal choices than ever, but that also includes the low end. And this is definitely a cymbal from the low end.

I got mine as part of the cymbal package supplied with the Pearl Rhythm traveller set. It's not the worst sounding cymbal I've ever heard- that award would go to the "Krut" that came with my first set of Olympics back in '67. But it's pretty crude sounding nonetheless.

If you're just starting out I'd suggest checking the local want ads, or finding a local drum store with a stock of used cymbals; you could probably find something usable in a small crash for $50. But if this is all your budget will allow... well, you could do worse. ... Read more

You cannot get a better China cymbal from Zildjian, Sabian or Paiste -at any price - and the splash is also an amazing cymbal that will add a new sound dimension to any kit.

The China is 18", and has the most complex sound I have had the pleasure of hearing.It is loud, and beats any other China I've tried (and I have tried some expensive ones!)The 10" splash has slight China overtones, which adds a distinctive and unique sound that is somewhere between a traditional high-end splash such as the Zildjian A-series (ASIN B0002CZX6C) and a typical China cymbal.

Well worth it
Based on the sound of my 10" ZBT splash (ASIN B0002IP47Y) I added this 8" to my kit and am more than pleased.It has the same near instant decay and projection, and the expected higher pitch.Frankly I am surprised by the sound and performance of this cymbal since I am more of an Avedis fan and viewed the ZBT series as entry level cymbals.
