For those who like Ovations, this is great!
Many have mixed feelings on Ovation guitars: to put it bluntly, they sound electric, despite being acoustic, and many acoustic players don't like that.Those who do, however, will find that this particular Ovation plays practically identically to higher priced models and sounds almost exactly the same.

If you've never played an Ovation, be prepared: it will not sound as good unplugged as most other guitars in the same price range, unless you really prefer the electric/bluesy sound these produce.Plugged in, however, Ovation A/E guitars kill pretty much everything in a similar price range, although the models without the central sound hole typically sound better.

Those who play electric guitar primarily will be most at home with an Ovation, because of the ultra-thin neck, the ridiculously low action (adjustable without sanding!) and the generally electric sound/feel of the guitar.Throw on some Elixir strings and you have a great sounding guitar for a good price.

Fantastic Deal
Let me start by saying what I really wanted to buy in the beginning was an Ovation Standard Balladeer (ala Glen Campbell). Before I got that far I ran across this deal and was intrigued.

If you like Ovation guitars (and not all do) this model is an outrageous deal.It uses the same Lyra-chord engineered plastic back as the more expensive models, has a spruce top and rosewood fret board.I spent several hours trying to find $5 let alone $500 dollars difference between this and the higher end Ovations.It has the same action, good fit and finish, and good acoustic tone as any of the others.

Higher-end electronics?I couldn't hear any significant difference on the in store amps and mine sounds just fine on my Behringer Ultra-twin.Built-in tuner?Why . . . and is it worth $100+.I have an electronic tuner that works just fine and could replace it for well under $50.

Add to that the Ovation hardshell case and I am shocked these are not flying off the shelves.Perhaps people (like I did) think this must be to good to be true. ... Read more

A bargain with a rich, full, sound.
I don't own one- yet- but I intend to get one soon. The Avante AV-2 is a bargain in the world of Bartone guitars- the only one avilable under a thousand dollars- with a full, mellifluous, sound.

Baritone guitars fill a hole between the voices of the standard guitar and the bass. There's a richness and a fullness in the sound of a fingerpicked baritone that makes you think you're listening to a gar and bass together. The baritone is also a wonderful accompaniment to the singer with a bass or tenor range, who can transpose down rather than always having to move tunes up in pitch to match his voice.
