GS-330S
The Takamine GS-330S is an above average guitar for the price rangeinto which it falls. Solid construction, decent tone (6-7 out of 10), nice appearance, and the instrument keeps its tunings well. This guitar, however, is not meant for live performances or mid to upper tier recording due mainly to its tone and lack of range. The guitar fails to establish significant bass although it does fine with higher notes. I also own a comparably priced Washburn which, unlike the GS-330S, holds its ground against the upper tier guitars in terms of bass and tone. Great guitar--a little tinny
I have this guitar and I love it. The neck action makes it very easy to play. I learned on a Yamaha starter guitar, but now that I'm used to this one I can almost not make a clean sound on the Yamaha. It's a beautiful guitar that gets lots of oohs and ahs, and it's a real pleasure to play.

My only criticism is that it doesn't sound as rich and deep-throated as my Yamaha or other guitars. There's a distinct tinny-ness to it that almost makes it sound like the E and A strings are missing.

But as the slogan says, "Plug it in!" Once you plug this baby into an amp the electronics do much to balance the sound and enhance the bass tones. I don't have a practice amp yet, but I've played it through a system or amp half a dozen times, and it does sound much better.

I wanted the cheapest guitar I could find that would let me graduate to an acoustic/electric, and I've been very, very pleased with the Applause.

Okay product for the price.
The guitar has trouble staying tuned and the nut at the top that holds the strings spontaneously broke (probably from the tension on it by the strings and a manufacturing defect).On the other hand Customer Service from West was excellent, they were willing to pay for my return shipping and sending the product back to me.So its is a poor product but a great company.

Large sound and great tone
I specifically asked for and got this for Christmas. Don't be deceived by its 3/4 size -- it sounds like a full-size guitar-- large sound and amazing tone. I am thrilled with it. It stays in tune exceptionally well.
